well nearly 100 % duty is nothing new i think. customs have touched your parcel so 860 rs i think is the minimum kind of duty.

Well no offence akshay but that duty is Really High and i think it would be better to send it for reassessment or send it back and get the money back.Thats not the minimum duty and i have also heard that Goods under 2000 rs can Imported duty free i am not sure but i have heard that so that is not a Minimum Kind of duty.Customs have overcharged.

Can you be more specific about your quadcopter? Is it a rtf toy grade? Just open and check the wires of the motor.. If everything looks fine then you may have burned the motor.. So replacing the motor will do..

@Abdul, Reassessment is the only option as we discussed on phone. Item of such value should be Duty free practically. Just give them proof of purchase with value. These kind of duty value comes up because most of the parcels sent from China/Abroad are undervalued and they would have though your is undervalued too and marked up an estimate and calculated duty based on it.

Well Here are the Steps For Reassessment :- ( Even I also Didn't know that But Thanks To Kumaran Sir (Rcparkjets Sir) I didn't even know this but thanks A Lot to him )
"If you pay and take delivery of the parcel, nothing can be done afterwards.

1. The procedure is you should not accept the parcel. Take copy of the duty bill when post man bring the parcel to you.
2. Do not accept the parcel. Ask the post man / post master to return the parcel to the customs for reassessment.
3. Write a letter to the customs (postal appraising department) stating that the parcel is not accepted by you due to high duties and ask for reassessment. Attach, copy of duty bill, invoice, catalog etc.
4. Also, give copy of the letter to the post master.
5. The post master will send the parcel to the customs and you will get the parcel back after sometime after the reassessment."
And Yes One More Thing in This process I mean reassessment may take upto one month but it may Get completed soon also and also the parcel may go missing ( Not Trying to scare you or demoralise you) but that doesn't happen every time so don't worry.

Yesterday I asked post master to send it back to foreign post office stating that for reassessment..  And I got a email id from Google and sent them a mail with the purchase link, paypal payment proof and the front and back photo of my parcel and asked them to do reassessment and return it asap..

As per customs, Electric goods with the value upto 2k is free from duty.. I hope this process takes less time.. Already waited for more than a month for delivery.. Uff..

Keeping fingers crossed Abdul... In my case, I am screwed up due to my neighbors accepting the parcel. Mine had 80% duty inspite of the value being less than 2k. What I understood is that since its becoming a norm for people to declare the value as 30% of the original value, customs are calculating duty from 3 times of declared value in Invoice.

Lesson learnt :
1. Don't have too cozy and friendly relationship with neighbors as they pay for us to postman even when doors are locked out and get the parcel at very high custom rates instead of sending it back for re-evaluation.
2. When in Rome, be as Romans. Declare as 30% so that even when duty is calculated from 3 times of the declared value, it falls exactly at the ball park of the Original customs duty. But this is something I am facing very recently.

I ordered a Turnigy Reaktor 300W Balance Charger, some batteries and a JST connector from hobbyking. Now the I get a call from FedEx saying that Customs is asking for KYC and the following:
1)     ETA CERTIFICATE ( EQUIPMENT TYPE APPROVAL)
2)     Authority letter duly signed and stamped
Now, I understand that ETA is required for wireless adaptors and receivers. But why is it required for Chargers and Batteries?
Could anyone give me some advice on what to do next?

First Of All Welcome to the forum.Now as Your Parcel Does not contain anything like a Tx/Rx Well People are facing these problem maybe they are requiring ETA for this type of things well Just try to tell them that you cant arrange a ETA i think they will surely Clear it.Also Refer this link Just now Parichya got his Parcel Clear from Fedex.Maybe your parcel also cleared too but i think you should tell them that you dont have a ETA as its for personal use and i think they should clear it.Just Try to talk to them.

Provide them kyc and authorization letter.
Regarding ETA, please reply them that your shipment does not contains any item which needs wpc approval.
It seems that customs is asking for eta after seeing HobbyKing invoice without reviewing each item.

Letter authorizing fedex to clear your shipment on behalf of you.
It is the same as SL. No 2 of your post reply no. 1915.
