just write them that
" this is item for personal use and is not ment for any commercial activity. it is a part for a toy that i had previously got."

even enclose a copy of the invoice to show that it is the same amt you paid that is declared.

it might solve the prob. :salute:

very true guyz ....the problem is with EMS service and their custom officers ....they are just a bunch of corrupt superintendents ,,few days back i ordered two gliders Fox EPO 2.3m and Phoenix 2000m ...through ems and these guyz charged me 6000/- for both the parcel ..... i have a number who does the customs clearance ... but that guy is also smart ....  these people know that we are curious about our parcels and taking advantage of this they try to rip us off..!!!!

The documents required should be tick marked at the list please look carefully and best of luck if it is a radio tx
If you are really into scale you should be here. www.rcscalebuilder.com

Guys,

The initial letter which I got was from FPO and today, I got another letter from Customs and they required 3 docs,

1. Invoice of the purchase
2. IEC code (xerox copy), what is this code?
3. Working sheet (i.e, duty calculation as per customs) , not sure what is this doc?

Please clarify...

hi , i have tested the system ,and have come to the conclusion , first golden rule , never use EMS ,you spend more and suffer the most .
The best way is to have patience and plan a long time in advance , and order through the registered post parcel ,and wait for it to come with a nominal duty added .
If the item is less than , i think , 40 gms , then get it by non registered air parcel , as it only costs 2.5 usd and you can risk it but you will surely get it .

What i do is order separate parcels by this method , and have never gone wrong

EMS stand for Extra Masti service .

according to me if u in mumbai ... visit the ems office ,meet the officer ....cry a bit in frnt of them ...bribe him 500rs/1000rs ....and get your work done .... because according to rules -transmitter is banned item ..and anything which fly is also banned due to terrorist activities ....!!!! Its just a suggestion... cheerz mate ....!!!

Prad

if you are in mumbai , before you go to the officer , there are some agents outside , check with them , also whatever you do ,finish it fast ,with the money upfront ,or if delayed it will go through the official channel .

i also had ordered a Phoenix 2000 from HK by Registered Airmail & got it yesterday after 3 months (yes, thats right) with a 1000Rs customs duty...
mine was stuck at PAD, Kolkata... they called me, then sent me 'The' letter & I replied promptly. They released it after 2 months. I got it yesterday...
they obviously wanted me to visit them for !...!, & I had planned to go there by this month end..

hey rees ..... phoenix is a very very very good glider ,,,the best for training ...... i will tell u the tips to save from crashes and weak spots .... i also got fox epo 2.4 meter ..its a disaster ....  i mean its good but not rough and tough .....

To the best of my knowledge,
1. Invoice of the purchase- its the simple invoice generated by the shipper for you for the purchase
2. IEC code (xerox copy), what is this code?
Import -Export code, but i don't think it should be compolsory if your import is for your personal use (not for trade)- just need to convince the officers this thing...

3. Working sheet (i.e, duty calculation as per customs) , not sure what is this doc?
May be this link work for it,

..still suggest you to wait for the senior members comment on this....

Finally I got my parcel(radio), It was clear by customs after a customs duty of Rs.2333. In total it cost me 6500 for turnigy 9x...

Lesson learnt: Never Ever use EMS for Radio or try to avoid radio from HK

reas

whoa thats even more than the cost of the radio itself ! guess ordering stuff is like Quantum Mechanics !

I usually order these parcel when I am very busy with work and can't visit the field , but this time it's taking too long

I don't see any update on my shipment  :headscratch: from last Saturday

Is it a significance of parcel getting stuck in custom . What should be the status when it happen so  ???

Guys good news here..My parcel released by customs  ;D

After waiting for long period for my parcel I decided to visit nearest post office so visited them on Thursday 8 Dec 2011. Postman of my area told me that he don't have any parcel for me  :(

So I call to FOREIGN POST OFFICE.  After providing tracking number officer told me that they have received it on 26th Nov, he also asks me about the contents of it. I just told "these are the some electronics parts and requite for collage project". He told me that it will be shortly unload it and ask me to call again on Monday again.

Many Thanks to Mohan Sir for providing guidance and details of FOREIGN POST  :salute:

FOREIGN POST OFFICE, VIDESH DAK BHAVAN,
BALLARD ESTATE, MUMBAI – 400 001
TEL.:22615390 / 22613965

On Saturday when I checked with Swiss post again I was surprise to see the updated status "Released by customs"

Look the coincidence now.. just while writing this post I got a call from Postman saying there is nobody at your home to collect the parcel and pay the penalty of rs 192/- only. :banghead:
Thanks to my kind neighbors who were around and paid him money and collect the parcel.

Now just want to go home from office and check the parcel  (:|~

Hello,

I am posting this as am not able to understand the Customs event sequence. I understand if last event is "Send item to domestic location (Inb)" means it is being delivered to designated address locally. But for my parcel tracking I see somethng like -
12/10/2011 1:47:00 PM - INDIA - MUMBAI FOREIGN POST OFFICE - Send item to domestic location (Inb)
12/10/2011 1:47:00 PM - INDIA - MUMBAI FOREIGN POST OFFICE - Return item from customs (Inb)

Does this mean the parcel item is being returned back to the seller or it is being delivered to the local address? Any inputs would be gr8 help.

Find attached screenshot of the tracker.

Thanks,
Srikant.
