Please send all details asked for. The usual are invoice, technical literature of item imported, purpose, IEC number, and import permits, your personal credentials.

Please declare the hobby nature of your pursuit with the toy multirottor and non commercial nature of single  purchase in individual capacity. If you are a student please use IEC number specific to the students with a letter from educational institution. I believe you will find the number in forum.

After all the above hope like hell it gets released. Mostly its done in a fortnight to a month. If not after a month you may consider adopting other methods of personal contacts.

Thank you for the reply they have asked wpc  licence but I found in their gazette that 2.4GHZ was license free so I have sent invoice, technical specs, and gazette is it okay? I have mentioned that I have bought form ALIEXPRESS for review purpose and I dont know what are IEC and all . Please help

sundaram

Merely the fact that 2.4 GHz spectrum is licence free is not sufficient to get the item released unless the equipment has already been type approved. If it has not been type approved, you need to apply for type approval. Online system is available for that. But as posted by the forum members, WPC approval is almost impossible to get. See http://www.rcindia.org/radios-and-receivers/procedure-for-obtaining-equipment-type-approval-(eta)-from-wpc/25/

Check this Public Notice attached below.

Also see the FAQ by WPC: http://www.wpc.dot.gov.in/faq.asp

IEC is normally required only for imports made for commercial purposes. For individual import of a single piece, IEC is usually not required. But if customs insists on it and you don't have it, they may release the goods after imposing fine and penalty.

Please do use appropriate IEC numbers of pre exempted categories from the above link in which you fall in.

I think you will fall under this number category  0100000053

Did not want to dishearten you with exact situation as above on WPC aspects for a Syma. Do try that route too if you have the will.

Remote Controllers are not exempt from the requirements of type approval but do go through the transmission  power limitations in the Gazette

http://www.wpc.dot.gov.in/DocFiles/Sublegislation/Gazette%20(%202.4%20GHz).doc
http://www.wpc.dot.gov.in/Static/Gazette%20(%202.4%20GHz)_Outdoor.doc

I hope you are able to convince that its a toy with very low power of transmission

In the meanwhile hope like hell it gets released.

Short answer, it would not be released. You should have read about importing before buying it.

What exactly is their problem? Can you please elaborate? 2.4 GHz spectrum is allowed. So why this issue. Someone must have imported this model before. So giving type approval should be a mere formality if it is in their database. Are they overworked or something? What about the Wifi equipments like routers etc. These are being imported regularly. How these are getting type approval?

I am really afraid of that notice and I am willing to lose that product rather than all these complications and is it okay? Please help and thank you for previous replies

Nothing will happen. But still, rather than simply abandoning and doing nothing, you should make an online application to WPC for type approval and then don't pursue it. You can then write a letter to customs after applying to WPC that you have applied to WPC for type approval. Enclose the WPC application printout too. If the approval comes, its ok. If not, at least you can say that you had applied but WPC has not responded. No action will be taken against you.

As for talking to peons...well you can try that too ;) Money works sometimes :P

Im not in a position to go to Mumbai from my place and I have emailed to the respective email id regarding invoice, specifications, Gazette of WPC and in that they have stated that 2.4GHZ is license free so please help

satyagupta

It is free, but you need eta and import license from WPC (which is a troublesome process of getting one)
