Will be an issue with customs if I buy motors and escs only from outside India?

Sagnik

@saisannihith Nowadays Custom guys are cleverer than you think, they don't bother about the price declaration much, but dude if $0.01 is the value which they declared it just increased its chances to get caught up, and don't worry almost every package has to go through the step it is in right now, if its detained by customs as prohibited item, you will get a letter from them soon, and if it gets cleared you may have to pay duties at the time of delivery, sorry to say this but in your case, as you have ordered an RTF quad with $0.01 declared, there's a high chance to pay high custom duty or worse your items get detained, and they will ask you to bring NOC from DGCA, which is pretty much impossible to get, but i have seen many lucky cases, i hope yours to be one of them. Best Of Luck, Keep your hopes up, and please try to share whatever happens.

Sure.I will share my experiences

No .
may be yes ( 2 % chance)
I am a very regular buyer from aliexpress and banggood and i use to order almost every RC Part from
the chinese outlets. The exceptions include:
1- Lipos
2- RC Transmitter and reciever

your case : as you will order motor and esc's only there is the least possible probability that it wud get stuck in the customs but ....

As a general thumb rule never ever ask the seller to value the goods at 0.01$. reducing price is a good habit but reducing to a point like this
is dangerous and risky and a great chance lies to get trapped in the custom. i have ordered many items and all but one arrived at the destination without any problem. and the exception was due to a courier named yanwen which cannot be tracked after it reaches india.
valuation till 30$ get past the customs without any issues. they become sneaky if the parcel is labelled as a gift. rather i would advice to get as children's toy and there isn't a problem.

Summary : Do not mark it too low in value and avoid putting it as a gift. rest be assured and pray to god. because they are customs and they are next to gods.  :giggle:  best of luck

Yes, import of toy quads is banned. You won't get the quads, do whatever you want, so don't waste your time. Ask them to send it back to the seller and get a refund.

Currently have a Hubsan H501s detained at customs, shipped via dhl. Tried working with a customs agency too, spent a lot of money on it but failed. I've imported 100s of shipments from China so yes I don't have any hope of this being cleared, but is there a contact here that can help me get it cleared?

pksahoo67

One thing it is not getting cleared, no document shows that importing toy quadcopter is banned. I searched everywhere in DGCA Website. Nothing I could find. Why Customs is mis-interpreting the statement of DGCA.

Hello,
I am new to RCIndia and RC in general. I ordered GW007-1 drone from banggood and it is waiting to be presented to customs officials at Mumbai. In my hurry to order it I did not check earlier threads here, however after reading some experiences I am scared that it will run into trouble at customs. I have bought insurance and it is shipped through standard registered mail. I read a lot of threads regarding this issue here but most of them concerned more expensive quadcopters and other material but mine only costs 3000/- Can someone say if I would get away with just paying additional charges.. or if in extreme circumstances send the package back and get a refund?
Thanks

P.S: the dimensions are21.5 x 19.8 x 7 cm

If you're lucky then no problem. See who long it takes to leave the customs in the tracking ID.

Dev24

RY904045625SG this is the tracking number.. it has been there since 13/8. It's not a lot of days but I'm worried.

francisroan

Nothing to worry for now. Just sit back n relax. I was scared just like you when my first few packages from Banggood were shipped. It all reached within 1.5 months n still intact. So no problem. Besides small drones like that ain't a problem. You should get it by next month.

Dev24

Thanks a lot for your words of comfort. I appreciate them! Can you tell me If your drones were presented to the customs and if yes how long did it take to clear them? Thanks a lot!

Cycloned

You won't be getting your drone.

As soon as it is presented to the customs offer it will be seized and you will be asked for WPC approval, which you won't be able to obtain. Make preparations to have your product shipped back to banggood when the customs office contacts you so that you can get a refund.

Dev24

But I understand that you did get your drone when you ordered it a few months ago... Can I keep no hope? Does banggood refund money under such circumstances?

Balakrishna Reddy

Bangood clearly states that customs should be taken care by us. When it arrives at customs and if they check it they will send a letter asking fpr DGCA approval letter. Then you can respond to send it back to seller. If that reaches to Bangood then you will get your money back but time consuming.

I was lucky and my package was half the size of yours. Larger packages are always checked. Also my shipment was untracked so it might have slipped through customs unnoticed as they don't have to update the shipment status online.

Banggood will give you a refund once the item is returned to them.
