hey guys,
new here.I ordered a tx rx pack,motor,esc,lipo and charger from hobbyking and it cost about 110$ including shipping(29$) and its status states that "held by customs"(mumbai) since 4th jan.I stay in pune and am a student so i am restricted and cannot go to mumbai.What do i do?(pls also do tell me if duty will be levied against it and if there is anyway it will automatically be shipped to pune)

ps:I didnt use EMS,just normal shipping.

You should have done this before placing order at HK. Anyways, just read others experiences in above link, you will sure have the solution.

Even my parcel from HK (RTF Glider) has been stuck at customs Mumbai since 10,-January-2012
I got a letter from them 2 days back asking for declaration and NOC and stuff.

Today I simply called them and spoke to them and the person asked me few simple questions:
1. What is the product?
A: Toy glider made of foam (thermocol)

2. Is it a helicopter?
A: No

3. Was it ordered online?
A: Yes

4. What is the total value of it?
A: Told the invoice purchase value in dollars (excluding the shipping)

5. Is this for sale?
A: No, for personal use

Response from the person: You will have to pay *% of duty, shall I send this item?

My response: but this is below Rs. 10,000 value

Response from person: You will have to pay the duty, will you pay or will you come here to talk?

My response: I am ready to pay

Response from the person: OK, I will release the package, you will have to pay the duty on delivery

My response: ok

That's it, I spoke to that person at 5:20 PM today on January 18, 2012.

Now need to monitor the tracking status, expecting it to change in a day or two.

I would suggest you also try calling them and speak to them and see if you can get the parcel moving without going.

You Parcel is stuck at customs, as you have ordered TX/RX and customs doesnt care about other products.

I also had the same issue and I have had to pay nearly 50% as customs duty (invoice+shipping) to get the product.

Please go thro the thread, I ahve list the doc the customs had asked.

i have ordered motors 2812 from hobby king and shipping through ems speed post and weighs less than 1kg may  i know chances of getting struck in customs and how much time it would take for the consignment to reach .

change the shipping method if you can !!!!!! else if you lucky to get the package, it will after your event !!!!

also in any shipping method, consider 1-3 weeks of minimum time to get it at your end.

may i know to which i need to change shipping ??

registered air mail or parcel . anything other than EMS.

Anand  I have order my parcel with EMS, is their any issue with this type of shimpemnt ??

With all previous exp of mine and many other fellow members, the EMS gives more trouble to clear then other type of post. Same time it's not necessary that every ems has the problem as it depends upon the articles in package also. If you browse though older post you will see the other post methods are advisable.

Bisht, your item has been sent for customs inspection .. two things can happen now.

1. Your item gets inspected a duty is charged and it will be sent to you.
2. Your item gets inspected and it is detained by customs in which case you will recieve a letter .. take the letter and visit the India Post office and Indraprastha. After questioning if you are luck the parcel will be released.

but why they inspect in mumbai and then in delhi again ??

1. If they charge duty ? Will they call me ? tell me amount I have to pay for duty and then sent to me and on delivery I have to pay that amount to currior person ??

Hi Bisht... my name is Divay.....
They did not inspect your item in Mumbai... they directly sent it to Delhi Customs.... If duty is charged no one will be calling you ... your postman would come and take the custom charges in cash from you when he delivers the package.....

Btw what was in the package I could let you know wether it would be detained or not
