Who says it is slow, the IPS website shows that I had received the item on 16th Nov and it has been signed by me.. while I never received it and checked with post office, they told me they will deliver it today

The custom here in India is very bad.. simply hares people waste their time & money for no reason & they try to act over smart.

I also received a letter from the customs for my parcel in 2008.. They will make you wait for a entire day, make you run from one table to the other which is not my job at all & in the evening when i got my stuff the clerk smiles at me & asks for some money he was a mad F####. If you look at the post office how well it is maintained to me it looks like a junk yard a very untidy & unclean place.This is their culture..

My friends in UK & US never had a issue with customs when ordering stuff from abroad.

Blanket criticism doesn't help   How many here religiously show true value on invoices ? 

Don't want to go philosophical on this, but people have to start feeling good about paying taxes, and that happens when they see their taxes put to good use (infrastructure, citizen services etc).

All things can be done in well disciplined manner if they follow the Govt rules rather than harnessing people & each & every one here in India knows how corrupt our Govt officials are. Why every time i have to go to the Post just to get my parcel... why cant they just deliver it to my door step is it a big deal ?? I have no issues paying taxes

You just cant compare US and UK with India in certain areas. The difference lies in the philosophy and work culture we follow and they follow. Its not the people at execution level who are at fault, its a trickel down effect this culture flow from top to bottom.

Why not! So that the Netas and bureaucratic siphon that money to their Swiss bank account. Anwar, just in recent times, corrupt Politicians have known to have robbed over 2 Lackh-Carore (I can't even convert that in Metric-numbers)!! in just 2 scams!!

If I had an option not to pay taxes thru TDS, I would have let the tax men recovered it from me. SIC. I know Govt need money to run the country, but then what the use of it if such a large part goes in vain. Let the system collapse so the country is re-built from scratch again!

Just a pity there aren't any incorruptible leadership remaining which can inspire people for another 'Non-Co-operation movement' - 'No Taxation without (earnest) implementation'! Its  no wonder our own people have robbed us 1000 time more than the British what did, in less than 1/4 of the time!! Wonder if they used this efficiency in a constructive way.

Have you ever seen till this date a politician or a celebrity put behind bars.... for the crimes they committed here in this country you can own a AK 47 & still get a bail from the supreme court.. & still people admire him you know who he is??

And still harmless hobby like Aero Modeling is a Hush-Hush affair due to overly incompetent authorities's whims and fancy. Not a single incident of RC planes used for covert act been reported anywhere in the world.

I know of one instance where RC equipment was discovered in the hands of a group that was fighting their own government.  Photos of the equipment was taken by security forces, and publicly posted.  Do not want to go into details

you know what the best flying bomb is the Boeing 747 itself  & well proven, what rc planes can do in comparison with it???

This is not a topic that can cause unwanted attention to an otherwise benign hobby.  To put things in perspective for Sharlock, "when was the last time you had couple of B747s in your house, under your control" ?

We need to be aware of the times we are living in, and make sure our hobby stays a hobby in the eyes of everyone including people who have nothing to do with it.
