A bit off topic, want to know shipment using DHL or FEDEX what are chances/odds of parcel getting stuck in customs or custom duty they are like very expensive even more than EMS..

They are cleared, but not without custom duty unless package is very small.

if u use DHL/FEDEX/UPS(TOP 3 COURIERS), they will clear the parcel in 1 or 2 days max and parcels will reach u within 4 days to 10 days from the shipping date, depending on shipping option u choose. i have used all of the courier services listed, i mostly use UPS of the three mentioned as they have the best service..  I mostly order from USA so i cant say much about HK... i always pay customs when using UPS but its always the right amount charged. through dhl i felt my parcels were always being overcharged in customs. and through fedex ,the customs charges are weird as i paid no customs charges for a 7kg 600$ package but i have paid 4k customs for a 11k purchase and the parcels weight was about 500 gms and size of a cellfone box. i think all companies have their own branch/employees for clearing customs who open the package and check themselves but send the documents(invoice etc) to customs for processing. :) hope this helps

Hmmm well the parcel might be huge like 7-10 kg and the cost would be around 400 USD what do you guys think the duty would be?? do these guys (FEDEX,UPS or DHL) offer low invoicing..??

They are shipping companies - they have nothing to do with invoices

It should not be a problem. But again, there is a limit to what you can import without license. Not sure what the amount is - will check and let you know.
But anyways, for large orders its always advisable to go with couriers like (UPS/DHL/Fedex).

1. they add the facility fees for clearing/presenting the items for custom. so you pay customs + dhl fees.

satyagupta

So that means DHL will take care of customs and clearing/paying duty right so isnt that good??

its actually personal decision. i would like to pay customs but not the fees. even the regular parcel form HK also have customs + fees of post office, but that's not too much as compare to what dhl charges; so its an individual choice for selecting the shipper.

satyagupta

Ahhh that makes sense thanks for clear explanation Anand :hatsoff:

both. personal experience :(

if you can split it in 2-3 package for regular air parcel/registered parcel that would be much better for you. It may cost some extra $ but trust me that will still feel low as compare to when you will be exp with SP India. (i may be wrong, but thrice i was not lucky)

satyagupta

I know man customs how pain they can be in the BUTT (sorry for being blunt :| ) what about FEDEX and UPS?? will they be cleared easily, if duty is charged i dont mind paying but clearance time is important..

;D SP = Speed Post || Suffering the Pain ;)

Fedex shall be my priority 1, then the UPS.
