It is not their buisness to what was in the parcel if the postmaster put that question to you then u can tell him dont say anythng to the others if the package did not come to the postoffice then deffinately the customs has to be blamed but if it did come to the postoffice and has disappeared from there then its usually the postman or woman which phone did u order btw

I dont know bout other places but where i stay i can literally wouch for the postman and woman these guys have been dilevering mail from past 15 yrs to my place anf usually when a big parcel comes i tip them off  both of them like literally know my name and address as soon as a parcel comes in i get the dilivery frst thing in the mrng before the rest ......if u know the guy getting u the mail and know he is not capable of doing smthng like this its the customs then ....but dont back out get a complain done

See the thing is if it showed in the tracking tht the mail has been sent to the local post office then no one can tamper with that as the box gets scanned ....so someone in the local post office is deff lying

in d evening i had spoken to a guy from mumbai HO and he said this kind of things happens often .. have asked to call on monday..

If u use pay pal as a guest or if u have membership u can use the transaction I'd that you get from PayPal after placing order u can use this I'd to claim for a refund if the product is not delivered to you within a specific period

Late 2012, I had ordered my T-rex 100 (with radio) through E-bay: Global Easy Buy.
Guess it came on USPS. Duty was already included by E-bay.

Then some parts (blades, landing gear, main gear shaft) for it from Align directly (worth 80$ with shipping).
Again came on USPS from LA warehouse. No duty was charged.

In both the cases I got my stuff in 3 weeks.

I ordered a Bixler from HK, along with LiPo batteries in one parcel via EMS (total is 4.something kg), and a 2.4 GHz Rx/Tx in another parcel (from HK, via International (Registered) Air Mail).

The EMS parcel is stuck in customs for the past 4 days, and the Air mail one just went into customs today

What formalities (if any) will I need to complete?

I am a student, so I could get a letter from the college saying it is for a project

You have better chance of clearing customs, if you break up your order
Order 1 - Kit
Order 2 - charger / electronic
Order 3 - batteries

I would suggest not mix batteries with anything else. Batteries come via a different route (so takes a looooooooooooooooooooog time)

Nothing to worry about its normal to stay at customs for more than a week we are not sure how it works some parcels makes it quicker and some don't so keep your head COOL.

If it doesn't take the normal route of delivery then you will for sure get a letter from CUSTOMS(PAD: Post Appraisal Department) asking them to meet ....then it depends on you how you convince them.

STUDENT : that gives you a buy-in ..... not necessary that you need a letter from college, just tell them that you are experimenting or something related to college work...

I dont think Mumbai customs will assess your parcel since it is destined to Kochi.

thanks sujith,that was one piece of information i was looking for..So i presume my registered air parcel has reached kochi even though the tracking status shows send to customs in mumbai

Does the IPS tracking show 'Send item to customs' at Mumbai?
That would mean that it is being assessed by them - which is surprising to me

When my parcels land in Delhi, I see a 'Send item to domestic location' at Delhi.
Next tracking happens at Mumbai which shows 'Send item to customs'

Last time when i got my 9xr,it showed the above msg and then without any update i got my parcel within 4 days..Is there no custom status tracking for registered airmail?

99% of the registered mails have proper tracking information incl customs retention reasons

May be other Kerala guys can chip in on who assess their parcels.

It's been 6 days for me since I got a track number from HK on my last order... Huge package with quad parts. Almost the 7th time I'm ordering from HK.. Track not working yet.

Does anyone know about customs in Kolkata?  I ordered several lipos and although the destination address is New Delhi, the package shipped Singapore Post and landed in Kolkata.  Now since Jan 14th. Kolkata customs has it for verification.  What is the usual waiting time for this?

I had no issues on prior several orders of lipos but that was with Swiss Post and the package landed in New Delhi, not Kolkata.
