These kits comes disassembled, so the package should be not be very large - not sure though

1 month on, I lost patience and went to the customs office today. Result: It was released immediately, they said they would charge 3k duty (after bargaining a lot, but no bribes paid )

One thing to note though: Know the rules before you go. This particular officer tried to tell me I needed an IEC code for my package, but I knew he was wrong, so I showed it to him in his own papers.

Another thing I'm sure you know: Speak in local language, or take someone who knows it with you.

He gave me a letter which appeared to be what they should send when the shipment is detained. Something that started with "This is to inform you that the above post parcel...". It had a paragraph that said goods to be imported will be released on production of IEC code, but personal items are exempt. i have ordered 4motots and ESCs + props for my new quad project. so do you think it will detained by the customs?
because i stay in nagpur city and i cant go to mumbai just to get the parcel released in case it is detained.

If it is a big parcel, then it will definitely be detained. You can hire some customs clearing agents (do a google search) who will charge some amount but get it done for you.

I went through everyone's grief and grievances and im very much afraid now to get a Tx Rx for myself from HK. 

But still i would ask, what possibly wrong (or rather series of wrong things) can happen if i place an order for a 6ch HK Radio system ?
I am a student (Calcutta) and need one for a 4th yr project.
Regarding the type of order . . .i will be making an INTERNATIONAL (REGISTERED) AIR MAIL order (1kg).

i guess the easiest way is to ask someone who is coming from abroad, to bring it for you... at customs they can just say that it is for a college project or ncc or something like that....

Rahul dont worry Every parcel will come through customs only they will leave that freely if they didnt find anything..
Dont worry.. They dont charge this as they as simply electronics which are harmless...

will reach your hands in a week or so..
And the status will not get updated for many days.. even ut will be like that after you receive the parcel also ..

I got a6ch Rx / Tx from HK via airmail, came after 2-3 weeks with 280 rupees duty.

Can any one tell how much % (percent) duty or tax is added on the rc models we import???

I suggest you to make your own with the reptile frame.
I bought the ST360 from HK with other parts and it works great.

Actually i have ordered some ESCs',Testers ,mounts, etc
My order cleared hobbyking after 4 days
in 2 days it reached its destination country,
but now it has stuck in some pending customs inspection for the last 10 days,
can anybody please help me.

And wait for a week or 10 days for it to be inspected..mine got in 9days.

As a foreigner, it's disappointing when I order and see that Hobbyking gets the parcel to India within a week and then I have to wait four weeks for Customs.  To deal with that I just lower my expectation and tell myself that it takes 6 weeks from order to delivery with another fee for customs.

If you need something faster, better to order from a seller in India who has the item in stock.

Has anybodies parcel left customs between 10th march till today i guess all of those guys r off duty cause such a small parcel is stuck for 9 days ...being holi cant say but its way tooo long ....

Mine entered customs last week.... Still no news....
