The custom guys opened my package! If the content inside gets damage while examining, what to do?

aman1256

They will open in a way that the product doesnt get damaged. they have experience brother they would have opened 1000 of packages . so dont worry ok :) .  if gets damaged then they will pay for it or they will   do something like returning in no hassles and transfering the money to your account

Thanks for the help guy! Finally I received my rc bike!  :)

Hello guys forgot to post this.
This happened when I was coming back from rajasthan. I met an CUSTOMS OFFICER
I had an long chat with him of which half I don't remember
I will be posting slowly remembering all the things for now I am posting something
I asked him what are the customs duty on bringing 2.4ghz frequency related stuff. He told that we can bring any stuff except tv upto 35k without any customs but after 35k there will be 33% customs.
Note: this is only for bringing stuff along with themselves.

Hello Nitesh. The 35K limit is for items that you BRING ALONG WITH YOU when returning from a FOREIGN VISIT. And that is for PER PERSON. So suppose you go along with your father & mother, so this limit becomes 35,000 x 3 = 1,05,000/-

Anyway, the point is the limit is for FOREIGN VISIT. Not ORDERING.

pranavchitte

according to my knowledge, the limit is 10k

when i was at the mumbai airport 2 weeks back.. saw this.
inquired about getting 2.4Ghz radios into the country. Unfortunately the customs officer on duty had not clue about 2.4ghz (he was shocked to know that there is 2400 mhz frequency available  :banghead:) and blindly stated to go by this mandate posted on this poster of 27 Mhz...
could not manage to convince him that Mhz is outdated technology...

Thanks nitesh for that information and nairit your correct for 1 person it 35000 so for 3 persons it will be 105,000. But Thanks for that. :)

aman1256

Ok Guys Talked to customs officer in mumbai directly by phone. Now if you import a radio or something (Obviously not banned items). 1 Or 2% maybe be charged :)
But that also depends on how much of rs your importing like your 3 persons so for 1 person it is 35000
So for for three it is  105,000 So if the 3 persons import nearly to that amount maybe 1 or 2 % duty is applicable.( And that also not everytime it depends on what item also your importing )
So no worries for importing things in baggage. :)

rcrcnitesh

Aman that is not for importing that is for
for ex: If i go to us with my father, mother, brother there will be four persons so it will be 4 persons so i can bring stuff worth rs. 1,40,000 without customs but this is for bringing stuff only not IMPORTING.

Guys Radios and any sort of RC items are semi restricted items.
There are three catagories restricted, Semi Restricted, Free
Free - Parcels under these categories are allowed without any hassels. However the amount of customs depends upon the item.

Semi restricted - RC Items come under Semi Restricted category. Sorry I don't remember much about this catagary but these Items have some hassles and sometimes may not be sent to the person.

Restricted - These items are Strictly restricted and ordering any of these items may end up in jail or a hefty fine.

Guys dont order anything frome foreign except some motors or accesories
The reason is here

Don't order radios or planes or helis or any sort of stuff except of small orders like motor, esc servo and other small items. You are not sopposed to order batteries also from foreign.

If you believe in luck and think that I have a good luck order but if you are like me whose luck is bad
Then you should do this

Step 1 - Write a letter stating that This is just for hobby use etc.

Step 2 - Send it to the Customs Commisioner of your city.

Step 3 - Wait for the response from them.

Step 4 - As soon as you get your response order the item.
This may take some time but this is the best if you want to order your stuff without any customs and going to the customs office again and again.

other details coming soon

Hi Guys,

Today I received a letter from customs Mumbai about my package detained cause the value is Rs.2000! I have imported a gyro which is worth 2k.
In the following letter they mentioned about the limits for import is Rs.10,000 and I have ordered a item for Rs,2000 so I have broken there law of Importing more than 10,000 which is 2000. So Now I am getting confuse if 2000 is greater than 10000. I am trying to contact them on there given number but no one answering!

list of doc they want-

Import/export code.
commercial invoice
purpose of import
proof of payment
evidence of value
purchase bill

If anyone has deal with this before please help!  :(

Aman23

Hi,

You can reply them stating that:

1. You have imported the gyro solely for personal use is not connected in anyway with trade, manufacture or agriculture.
Therefore import / export code is not required.

2. Commercial invoice you can most probably download from exporters website (atleast HK has that facility)

3. Purpose you can put in your words mentioning your hobby

4. For proof of payment you can attach bank / card statement and email you must have got form some website like PayPal
highlighting the names / numbers

5. Evidence of value: Here again you can give a copy of invoice and card statement highlighting the relevant values

6. Purchase bill I am not very sure.

I hope some senior member will also reply.

@aman

Thanks for the reply friend!

I have talked to a custom guy on phone and he said that I have to pay him 41 percent of the cost of package. Is it really that high? Should I pay him what he ask for?

Even after giving all the doc I have to pay 41%?

tej

he said if the item is for personal use then I have to pay 41% of the total cost of package!

Aman23

I am not sure how did they arrive at this number. Are you getting it from Hobby King?

tej

no from hobby search japan! It's a miniz moto racer gyro!

tej

he says everyone pays about that percent for importing goods for personal use! Have you paid customs that high when ordering for personal use?

Aman23

It seems your package is not labelled in the right category. I never placed an order for 2000 or more and get most of the items from LHS or forum members.
So never had an problem like this. You should search for threads with "customs" to get more info and help.

tej

Thanks for your help aman! I parts for miniz are not available in india. I don't think the product itself will be available anytime soon! I was just hoping someone would share how to deal with customs asking for such high percent as duty! I will be meeting this custom guys with 2-3 days. Hope they will lower the duty as it's just a gyro for a replacement not a costly transmitter!

Aman23

Not a problem Tej. You are welcome. Keep us posted about your communications with customs dept. All the best.

tej

Thanks Aman! I'll do!

By the way this is the product which replacement part I order! The moto gp bike is a blast! :D
