@aman1256 - it must be registered parcel/mail service, as fedex have different tracking screen.

I think its Air Parcel. The package is more than 2kg. So its definitely not registered parcel. And not EMS as moorthy was not charged customs duty. Let moorthy confirm

Hey all, these days Importing from outside India is becoming a headache and these custom people really don't know our models and they keep on detaining it for "NO REASON". I mean they say the 2.4Ghz Tx causes Communication problems !! I mean does it REALLY ??..... They ask us to get NOC from New Delhi which is absolutely impossible. Yes, you can still get it if you have your uncle at the top most level. I just want to speak out my Frustration on them. Sometimes i tell to my father, let me complete my 12th and am leaving for US. I will tell you my experience with them.
It may be a bit lengthy, but pls dont get so lazy....

--------------DAY 1--------------

This takes place at the customs,

First of all, i receive a Postcard kind of saying that the Package has been detained.
Then i arrange a visit to THE CUSTOMS "Sounds like HELL to me"
In Mumbai.

After reaching and searching all around to reach the appropriate person,
i asked him about my Package, he said nothing can be done, the best way is to go to Ministry of Communications and XYZ.
Borivali. and ask them to allow me to get this to my Home.

They then told, take a Government Servant so as a proof.
Ok, then i gave a letter permitting me to take him with me.

------------DAY 2--------------

I came again to THE CUSTOMS to pick up that guy, and take him with me to Borivali.He was kind of not willing to come.

Okay after we traveled all the way from Ballard Estate(EAST) to Borivali(WEST)

Then we reached the Place. At first i was confused, like is it really the Office, it was kind of a Vikram Bhatt's Horror Set.
Unfortunately it started raining and we were all wet.

The watchmen dint allow us to step in THEN we had to explain him all about the issue. He told us right away, nothing can be done and there is no use of visiting the Commissioner as he would just reject. I thought he was just faking as he wouldn't know about this Hobby. Just as i stepped in to the cabin, the Government Servant stopped me there and there. asa i told him about the confirmation of Transmitter, wait, let me tell you in his own words.

"Idhar kuch nahi ho sakta hai, Ghar chale jao, hum koi Certificate issue nahi karte, woh Customs wale jhut bol rahe hai".

It was kind of BLANK for a minute. He also immediately asked me to leave his cabin.
Asa i turned around the watchmen stood standing there and was smiling. I was so frustrated that i cannot express it this way.

Then i had to still go and drop the Custom person as he was my responsibility.
Reached, was very much tired.

The only option left with me was to request the to send it back to the Sender.

After wasting so much money and time, i felt Frustrated of our Government.

I wrote a letter and then they said it will be sent back to the sender.

Maybe this would be something non sense i have typed but i need you'll to know, WHY IS OUR HOBBY SO NEGLECTED ?? SHOULD WE DON'T DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT ?

If anyone here has any good Ideas we can utilize to let the Custom people know they are causing real damage to us.Pls reply with it.

Still after they told me that they wont detain it if the package does not include any Tx and Rx.
So, i bought a Bixler as for my Birthday Gift which is on 06-12-2013 .Just 2 days to go.
Ironically even this got detained by the Customs, this was just a ARF Plane and did not TX or RX.
I dont know what is that they want ??

Let us ask whats gonna fulfill their Hunger.

Anyways, i usually type Boring, pls dont get irritated.

Just think of some ways, we can ask them to stop this.

If you have friends in eastern region the I would suggest to get it through kolkata customs. They always charge cutoms duty and clear it. I have got a lot of planes from hobbyking. Always been charged by customs but never detained.

Must have the same rules everywhere.

Hey guys me and my cousins have also got frustated because of customs.Hey Why dont we sign a petition and Put it to RTI for our right in this Hobby so it may not be neglected. We have take a step to do something about it .

The step has to be taken or one day it will become a big problem specially in india .It has to be done by a senior .

I read somewhere, 2.4GHz is a now a de-licensed band free for civilian/public applications as long as the power rating of the wireless device (Tx, in your case) is withing the prescribed maximum, I think it's around 5W for 2.4 and 5.8 bands, importing anything beyond that will raise questions. So find the appropriate details regarding your Tx and find the government documentation regarding importing of wireless equipment and provide the the same to the customs guys to clarify the issue.

It's very unlikely that your Tx has a module rated anywhere around 5W, it should be either a case of misunderstanding or stupidity or corruption.

Hi kausha. If you are having ANY kind of problem with a govt dept, you can shoot a RTI application to the head of that dept. Commissioner of Customs, in this case.

1. Power of a Radio transmitter is technically calculated in dbm for making regulations. For unlicensed bands, Tx power cannot exceed 36 dbm, be it 2.4 GHz or 5.8GHz. Its termed as Effective Radiated Power (ERP). Its calculated in dbm because ERP is not only dependent on the transmitter but also on the antenna used. For a Tx Output power of (say) 1W, the ERP can be different depending on the GAIN of the antenna used. This ERP ultimately decides how strong is your signal is and how far you can control your RC plane.

So the general rule is to keep your Tx at Maximum allowable ERP and increase your receiver antenna gain to get range

A- If the product is not Type Approved, then it is required to inform WPC and obtain Type Approval from WPC. Import License is required from WPC to import any equipment, other than Broadcasting Reciver and TVRO System.

               So, in the letter i was asked to get the Proof of Parcels with Tx and Rx or RTF Planes/Helis delivered in India.

              If anyone is willing to provide Tracking no. of their parcel it would help me. Dont worry, no actions will be taken against you,
              it is just as a proof. Pls submit your Tracking nos. here asap.

My birthday was on 6th, i wanted a Bixler for my birthday,

I imported an ARF model which comes without TX and RX,

It got detained by the customs and now i wont get it because Ahmedabad customs dont release the parcels easily !!
i want it very bad......

Its a Shame on the Officers, the Custom Officer is just of age 24, very young, and we can only expect him to understand us.
