Hi Kausha. Please request the Customs official to try to initiate process to update our regulations vis-a-vis USA & the European countries.

And also ask him what measures do they take in ensuring the CONTENTS INSIDE a parcel does not get stolen. And if the contents DO get stolen, what can we do.

haii guys i am planning to get Turnigy 1/18 4WD Mini Stadium Truck (rtr) $70 and a lipo from us.my relatives are coming by the end of the month will there be any issues for them should they have to pay any customs or any paper to be submitted.help me out.

hello as i see they are bringing am i right so if one person is coming then 30000 rs limit is allowed if two persons then 60000rs limit is allowed so therefore they can bring.They may be charged little bit that is 1 Or 2% that also not possible so no worries go ahead.

Never calculate exactly for 30k imagine you might bring laptop,mobile phone,cosmetics or any other household-items while scanning they mark your luggage then you are bound to physical check.

Same way person who stayed out of India holding Indian passport for more than 1.5 years in business visa or official visa can bring 5lakh worth goods through cargo without any duty.

Main international port of India Delhi,Mumbai,Bangalore,Chennai.Each port has different rules No use of talking to customs every six month DC will be shuffle all over India so its vain to talk with individual designated person.

Example This commissioner might accept but when your shipment reach India he might got transferred and once again you will be in trouble with New DC

First check with your relatives about the weight and give them clear picture about the RC truck.Because Airlines first rule you should know in and out what you have in luggage if they reply we don't know its some kind of toy then Airport security or customs might confiscate the particular item.

Regarding Lipo ask your relative to check prior to airlines about the rules for carrying .Rules differ to each every Airlines.

Directly from Customs Manual:

The duty free entitlement of passengers includes used personal effects (excluding jewellery) required for satisfying the daily necessities of life. In addition, articles valued at upto Rs.35,000/- are allowed free of duty if carried as accompanied baggage of the passenger. This amount is proportionately reduced to Rs. 15,000/- if stay abroad is of 3 days or less. For children below 10 years, the free allowance is Rs.6,000/- (Rs.3,000/ - if stay abroad is of 3 days or less). However, for such passengers coming from Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar or China, by routes other than by Land route, and for such passengers coming from Pakistan by land route, the free allowance is Rs.6,000/-.

This includes camera, laptop, cosmetics etc. LiPo import is not allowed in most passenger aircraft. So verify it with the airlines that they are travelling.

For the $70 Truck toy truck, ur relatives may have to show a purchase invoice as proof of the valuation. Otherwise customs officers will calculate the price on their own.

I just started on this forum I am mostly active on RCG...I am looking for solutions to India specific problems ...and most of these problems mostly come up when it comes to our country's utterly crapped up process of customs clearance....we guys really need to come together to form some sort of an organization like there is the AMA in the US....this is because there is more misuse of the powers given to the customs department owing to problems stemming from poor knowledge of how the RC world functions....and corruption ...sometimes the way I am treated by these so called educated customs officials makes me feel guilty of myself which I should not....are we criminals to be feeling guilty of ourselves ?? Are we doing anything that is illegal?? We are using completely legal frequencies(at least I am), and are declaring 100% value of the items being imported, then why is there is diktat?? I even showed them a gazette issued by WPC when it comes to the legality of the 2.4Ghz receiver which I am importing ......I really love FedEx in this context, they are a bit costly but they get even the biggest of my orders cleared by the customs and delivered in just two days ...this is because they have in-house customs agents which take care of clearing the items shipped through FedEx without getting bullied by these customs guys because they both know what the law is ..these guys need to realize that the captain of the Indian cricket team is an enthusiast of this hobby and regularly gets his stuff imported without hiccups then why is there this sort of a red tape where only influential people get their stuff ...if I am breaking the law, are they not ??...and if they are not ,then how am I ?? I love my RC hobby and will not give it up under any circumstances....I am sorry for this rant but ....I have made up my mind to go toe to toe with these assholes and get my order cleared by stuffing money up there behinds...inki aukat dikhata Hun sallo ko !!
(Reason for Rant:- 8 weeks still my order is stuck at Mumbai customs I am very angry at the kind of language and attitude that they use against an honest citizen trying to show them that nothing He is importing violates laws of this land...)

FYI Akcopter, 2.4ghz is "license free band", which means you can use the frequency but the equipment you intend to use needs to be "Type approved". If the product is not Type Approved, then you are required to inform WPC and obtain Type Approval from WPC.You can read more at http://www.wpc.dot.gov.in/faq.asp#4

They are doing nothing wrong by inspecting and withholding your item for the lack of type approval. Thats what they are paid to do! And you are trying to pay them more and asking them not to do what they are supposed to do!
Method to obtain type approval has been given on the WPC site.

And please refrain from using such uncivilized language, because it is not going to get your parcel delivered.

If we want to take a step against the customs we have to talk to a lawyer,Akcopter i understand Fedex Gets cleared all the customs items because of the setting with customs Every year they are 2.35 crores to customs may be more that that my friend.On my floor there is a lawyer he is a friend of my father if you i will talk to him he is ver nice actually we can take step if we want guys we can anything because we are the PUBLIC OF INDIA who makes THE GOVERMENT And Elections are also coming so every step will be completed fastly because They want votes thats why. We have to take a step if you say yes Then i will talk to the Lawyer.
