I hope that readers of this forum are all over the country ,request following message to be passed on to your fellow modelers not reading this forum.

Please organise your activity:

1.Have one person keep record of members with photo, address proof.
2.Have flight safety norms in writing available to all flyers.
3.Provide Id cards if possible.
4.Keep local administration informed of the activity.

This process will help the aeromodelers and users of airspace in the future,if it is readily available.

Form your own clubs and consider formation of an all India Federation of Aeromodelers,to have one voice for the rights of this activity.

Suggestions on this line of thought are welcome.

To increase thrust you need more  money! But to reduce weight you  need nothing!

In Mumbai, at Mahalaksmi, we are strictly following 1-4. RF ID cards have been provided to members and entry/exit are logged. Third party insurance is covered as part  of the membership charges.

Howeve, there are many fliers in remote/unknown areas. it is well nigh impossible to organise them. Basic safety rules are not followed. As a matter of fact, there was a reported incident, mentioned on this very  forum, which involved a plane going out of control and ripping someone's trousers. This was actually considered funny/amusing by some.

Can you explain briefly how you came up with this organization? Who formed it and how did you come together? Also are you approved by the government as the formal body for aeromodelling?

We are planning to do the same for car racing and will like to know.

In 2009,7 of us came together and got the registration of the association.

In 2010 we approached Aeroclub of India for membership and obtained the same.

We then got third party insurance at specific flying sites ,as informed by members.

you may visit www.amai.in for details of the association.

It is a good idea to form a similar one for cars-you go through some international car club sites to see the kind of
rules they follow. The only issue with cars could be the frequency.

Space is not such a constraint with cars.

AMA USA also covers cars, boats etc ,we could consider having a special interest group within AMA India,if sufficient support and interest is indicated in this format.

[Moderator Note] Unnecessary quote removed.
For Car racing, the apex body is IFMAR which has regional blocks. Our block will be FEMCA for Asia. Is Aero club linked to AMA?

Is Aero club linked to AMA?

There is big confusion because AMAI folks use the name AMA, and people think it is referring to the US association.  It would have been much better if AMAI referred to itself as "AMAI", and not "AMA".  We should be proud to use the letter "I" in our acronyms.

Exactly what I wanted to know. In cars, we have to be associated with the international body through the regional block. We cannot participate abroad or hold a global event without without their approval. Is that case with aero club?

What exactly do you mean by "hold a global event"?

The AMAI ID is acceptable in competitions in the USA,However for International competitions organised by FAI (which could be in any country),the ACI(AERO Club of India),gives permit to fly or compete in these events. AMAI can organise their own events any where in the country, with or without the support of ACI.AMAI is now having a joint affiliation with Wing India(Amby Valley organiser),and the next event at Karnal is being jointly organised on 19/20 Nov.2011.

While we are discussing the process of organising the car and model airplane hobby, the interesting and important point is that we are now becoming aware that we must go beyond-you fly/I fly, go home or you race/I race ,go home.

We are trying to understand the rules of the game, the international scenario and how we should improve ourselves and meet these standards.

This fulfills the role of organised entities to bring in safety of operation and awareness of rules ,as also
creating a sense of brother hood, co-operation, mutual harmony, love and affection amongst the members of the association and amongst the General public.
