Title: Permission needed to fly drone in public
Post by: maveric on January 08, 2015, 10:17:29 AM
Is flying a R/C plane an offence are we all criminals who fly these planes....

A 29-year-old was arrested after he lost control of the device during a trial

If you are planning to invest in an unmanned drone, make sure you get permission from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Chennai police. A 29-year old man was arrested for flying one without these...

I thought the movie Terminator series was a Science fiction movie but it seems it turned out to be a Horror movie for the majority.   :giggle: :giggle:

@maverick, I assume you are not flying any Multicopters :headscratch:
IMO, the police thinks restriction is only for these Multicopters (Drones in their eyes).
So planes won't alert cops I Hope  8-)

this is so stupid of him. You do stupid stuff, you get whacked for it.Simple.

I too have a 'DRONE' LOL. but all i use it now for basic tuning and stuff and use my societies park for that, mostly at night  when no people or anyone is there to get hurt.

There is a ground 1hr from my home and once My quad is completed. I will take it there and fly where its is designed to be flown.

Crux- Dont be stupid and risk others lives. They're meant to fly but not at the risk of others.

@Sundaram. Sundaram Sir it reminds me of Terminator Salvation, Where Sam Worthington is actually a machine, but @ the end helps the Human forces. Similarly Drones which are actually designed for Defense purpose are Delivering Eggs. :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:

 :banghead:

We should unite all  members and  go to DGCA headoffice and request them to make up some  regulatory laws so we wont have problem in future !
as if we let DGCA to take decision they may take 5-10 years to do so...

:violent: And guys I hate people who inspit of explaining them that not to come in front or under the craft while I fly they seem to throttle in their curiosity and do so in short I pretty much hate spectators who are over curious !!! So that being said The police and DGCA should also fine people who spook in and don't listen to us and underestimate the potential threat !!

Agree with sooraj,

a simple self made glider/plane will not attract much attraction,
but a multirotor will create lot of attraction in a negative way in current scenario with cops getting to know only anything with motors faced up as drones and planes are just hobby toys.( infact, i do not know any real drones used in any military service which are multirotors.)

:iagree:
With Ashok sir, majority of Drone or UAV put in Military or Defense use are Fixed wings ... Multirotors are Used still is a small fraction .

It all started with the News of Pizza Delivery. The media gave it the name of Drone ( maybe also the Restaurant owner). As Ashok Sir has said even defense people use mostly fixed wings as drones.

DJI.
I feel a burning sensation when i hear those words. putting dangerous machine in the hands of unaware untrained  people who have no idea how bad a machine gets.
doing all those false claims about the machines integrity despite even a million dollar computer in a space shuttle can fail.
Seems like the shortcut in this hobby by few people thinking that money could shadow all those experience in flying and observing safety procedure has burned the desire of few common people who fly on Sundays for leisure hobby.

as far as tracking the pilot, i saw a news long back that cops traced the pilot from the video obtained from a downed quad.

Money can one Good Bed, but not Sleep. Money can get a Phantom (Drone) but not Flying Skills.

Big question now how to convince DGCA to take the ruling back or how to take permission to fly legally....what I can see from this condition is that one strike by terrorists using R/C Aircarft can completely destroy this hobby.
