Title: Predictions about the future directions of RC
Post by: anwar on March 19, 2010, 02:16:50 AM
Let us see who can predict what technologies / equipments / changes will be more common in upcoming years.  Let me start with the first couple.

1.  Electrics will vastly outgrow fuel powered ones.

2.  More telemetry will be incorporated into receivers (so that we can see RX battery consumption etc real-time).

3.  2.4Ghz will totally stump Mhz bands ;D

the size will also reduce definately[of the electronics] and the weights too so the size of the planes may also decrease

I think Electrics will take over glow engines. And gas will become more popular.
So it will be either electric or gas. with the electrics being economical and easy to run for upto 60-90 size planes, and thereafter Gas .

That would suck ;D  Totally take the fun out of RC :giggle:

BTW E Logger   from Eagle tree can  do this and much more  even today.

3. also 2.4 G might get  RUN OUT  by another frequency   :giggle:

May be FPV's would become dirt cheap and everybody flies using a FPV display.

Have a look at the Eagle Link post on RCG " Gesture " in terms of the head tracker beign used is already being talked about in the last page ( today's posts ).

One of the sweet development are the Power system logging integrated in the ESC. Turnigy Super Brain ESC are one of the example:

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idproduct=10941

they cost just 25% more than the plain vanilla ESC, and still cheaper than the Big Brother ESCs.

Benefit: you get Logger for just $10, ESC are much sturdy than standalone logger and have not heard many ESC break due to crash, except burnout due to over powering.

With smaller and smaller gas engines becoming accessible at prices that are equal to or even less than the price of comparable glow engines, combined with the increasing cost and non-availability of nitro based fuel, it looks like electric and gas will soon become the primary power systems for all RC aircraft.

Electrics have taken the crown on the low end, and gas has already taken the high end.  The middle is falling through these days ? :headscratch:

Transmitters will have only 2 joysticks..for 4 channel no other switches.. but will have a large touch screen capable for controlling, monitoring, trimming mixing etc... there will be possibility of unlimited channels... it will be enough to connect a small extention type of device (for addition of new channels) to the receiver and the particular device like servo etc to the extension device... The channels will be automatically configured from the tx.. this will eleminate the need for purchasing new tx/rx for greater channel accessibility..THAT IS ONE RADIO FOR A LIFE TIME....  >:D

there will be no TX!
people will have a helmet module in which there will be sensors  :giggle: capable of reading brain signals  :giggle:

no tx,no jhan jhat!

Hobby King will get fed up of sending mass consignments to India because the Indian RC requirements will be huge, hence, they will start with their main headquarters in India :giggle:
In case of RC fliers and cars, they will be added with a programmable USB for precise stunt flying/driving without the use of holding the Transmitter as an option!

Regards,

Dorwin

In future there wont be fuel to fly, So they need to fly on solar energy. Or at least use cold fusion to power our HK250 /walkera Helis.

Well Wait, I think I went too far into the future. Hope they will be powerful enough to carry us as well.  :giggle:

The user has to still hold the TX to give an impression that he is doing all the stunt flying :D

The plane will be invisible ... the person flying would only give announcements  e.g loooooppppppp, rrrrooooollllllllll, cuban eeeeeiiiigggghhhtttttttt, llllllaaaannnnndddding .... and people standing next to him would appreciate and clap {:)}

People would go back to olden days of free flight as RC as an activity would be banned in India due to prevailing security threat, while the hobby would flourish in many other countries.

On a more serious note, cleaner source of energy like solar and compressed air would rule the roost in the days to come

OK.. Here is how things will go down!

Apple will launch the iRadio (tm)..

-Will look exactly like the iPhone/Touch/Pad (tm).
-Will only work with Apple iReceivers (tm) and will refuse to connect with anything else. ##
-Trims and other settings will only be able to be changed via USB using iTunes (tm) installed on a computer running Mac (tm).
-Flapperons/elevons/other mixes will be available for download from Apple App-Store (tm) for a small fee ($$s!)
-Will allow only 1 mix to be used at a time (no multitasking).
-Will lose contact with the iReceiver (tm) if you hold ur hand in the wrong position.
-Both the iRadio and the iReceiver will have non user replaceable battery where warranty voids if user opens the back panel.
-Only Apple iCharger (tm) can be used to charge it.

-People will camp overnight outside hobby shops to buy it.

-It will be horrendously overpriced.

-Even with its multitude of limitations and restrictions, it will still kill the market destroying Radio giants like Futaba/Spektrum/JR!!!

## iReceiver is only compatible with iMotor, iESC, iBEC, iServo, iWire, iBind-plug, iRetracts and uses the proprietary iConnectors

**Use only genuine Apple accessories such as iProp, iSpinner, iWheels, iRubberband, iPaint, iGlue etc..

They will also adhere to Microsoft's naming convention like, XP VISTA, etc. I remember when MS came out with windows XP, lots of brands used the XP name on their products. Like Athlon XP ans so on.

RC Flying skills will be in great demand  for flying UAV's  both in Peace time as well as in combat as UCAV Pilots .

So there is a career that can actually evolve  the hobby .

Looking at the similarity between  a Predator or reaper pilot  sitting in NY and flying over Kandahar  and RC flying in  a larger sense this  career  is already  visible.

What you say is very true Sai Sir. But I was just wondering if a UAV pilot still has to exercise and be fit like a real pilot  ;D or just eat some chips as he files. This really holds good for computer gamers.
