Dear Anwar,

Here is small suggestion from my side.  I will suggest that this site should have a separate section that deals only with aerodynamics.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Can you expand a bit on what you mean by "aerodynamics" ?  Like how dihedral affects flight, how wingspan to fuse length ratio determines flying characteristics etc ?

These things can be discussed under the "RC General Topics" board, was my initial thought (but I am quite open to suggestions).

another suggestion[dont know if it alreadfy exists]
make a seperate section for links,,another for \videos and convert the chatter zone to off topic discussion board
and inside each board please arrange the topics properly under some sub boards and \again  some sub boards
for example for the board dealing with electric power, seperate the inside the sub boards of motor,esc...
this will make it much easier
also arrange the topics like new question, partially answered question, totally answered questions and only answers/hints

Hi Anwar,

Aerodynamics section will basically deal with physics involved in keeping an aircraft in the air.  topics related to design and its effect on flight, various parameters that can effect a flight, forces acting on the aircrafts on external parts, experts can discuss theory involved, and how modifications done within certain parameters will help/not help to acheive a better flight.   This exclusive section will help hobbyist to understand their machines better and make them come forward with differrent techniques in design on their own.  At present, the General section deals with a mix of other aspects of aeromodelling.

You are correct in first first paragraph of your reply in this post.  These aspects can be discussed in in aerodymics section.

However, it is up to you to decide.

thanks

My line of thought on this, from day one, was that a large number of boards make it even more confusing to people where to post topics.  That is why I made the current setup and stopped splitting things into more boards.

For example, the number of topics/threads that deal with "flight dynamics" are far and few. Later, someone will feel the need for a similar thing as applied to cars.  The list will continue to grow.

My entire thought on this is that people need to use search to find topics of interest.  Our effort to help in this regard are with the "Gems" list at http://www.rcindia.org/rc-india-forum/the-rc-india-gems/ , which serves as an FAQ / "most interesting topics" list.

What do you guys feel about this line of thought ?  :headscratch:  :)

Ankur - Chatter zone is already meant to be sort of off-topic only zone.  For RC related stuff we made "RC General Topics", which was not there initially, but when someone suggested that "Chatter Zone" has a mix, I split it.

if chatter zone is "off-topic only" zone then u nedd to rearrange many topics

Well... "off-topic" as in "long term value from an RC point of view".  If you look from that perspective, then we should be sort of OK (but not perfect, as you feel already).

And this way, more of the "hard-core" RC related general topics (like "aerodynamics" would rightfully fit into "RC General Topics").

Hi Anwar

How about incorporating a live chat on this website? So we can all talk and stuff? Just a thought  8-)
