I have a tight budget and drool for a Sporty Sedan which I can use for my other interests (Long drive, photography, pub hopping, shopping etc), apart from Sunday trip to Jakkur. So have to go for used car. The cars in my mind are (in order of preference)

1. Lancer (college time crush  ;D :-*, Lemon colored with spoilers!!)
2. Pre 2004 Honda City (original beauty, 2nd love!)
3. Suzuki Baleno
4. Ford Ikon
5. Hundai Accent
6. Wagon R (Already have at hometown... Not Hip :( .. the last option if I have to go for compact car anyway,)
7. Any other Sedan from same segment (plz suggest)

What I seek from flyers is, how many are already using one of these ? Apart from personal taste, the biggest criteria are the must have for R/C:

1. No metal firewall between Boot area and passenger cabin
2. Foldable rear seats.
3. Other sundry factors like rear seat space which would determine how much effective length I would get, after folding the seats etc.

I recently almost finalized the deal for a 2004 Lancer (2L !!) but the unfoldable seats were the deal breaker. What worse is that TeamBHP guys have somehow heard about yours truely 'Big Mouth', and have been denying membership on context of bad Grammar !!

Also need suggestions for a compact car, I have decided on Santro/WagonR second hand with budget < 2lacks.

Any suggestions welcome  Need it for carrying max 60" to 70" wingspan planes.

Ujjwaana,

want something with power and sporty performance? I have a suggestion. If you lower the suspension, she is very sporty, she is NOT fuel efficient - but at 1.6 Litres with a kick ass acceleration that leaves the Ikon, Accent, Verna and many others behind, that is to be accepted and expected. Try the Opel Corsa. Genuine German engineering and she's built like a tank!

It's a pity that they stopped manufacturing them in India, it is truly a car for a MAN!

Cheers!

Am NOT selling selling her, I'm just showing her off!!!
Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional!

I dont recall any sedan except for the Skoda series (even that might be technically classified as a hatch) where there is no barrier between the boot and the rear seat.  Best option is to go in for a hatch or an omni if you are going to use it for hobby purpose.

Out of your list I love the old version Honda City and also happen to own one :). But no good for aeromodelling.

I personally drive a swift and find it very comfortable to carry my 50cc plane with 87" wingspan and 81" fuse length..

Even in a wagonR, my 50cc fits comfortable.

Look for the Maruti Suzuki Dezire as well!!

Chan, Is it possible to fold the rear seat in a wagonR/santro?

Santro- I saw some one in jakkur completely folding off the rear seat towards-the-front-seat and creating a full flat free space. Is this possible on all Santros/WagonRs?

chanvivek

I know it is perfectly possible in a WagonR but I am not sure about the Santro.. In fact, some WagonRs come with split seats in the back, so we can fold one seat, recline the front seat completely and a 50cc airplane can go from the boot to the dashboard. Plus one person can sit tandem with the driver (exactly behind the driver)!!

Is this same thing possible on a swift?
I am leaning towards wagonR actually. (:|~, due to price/performance/utility value ratio!

@ Ujjwaana,

Have you considered an Optra? As regards your all your requirements for carrying planes, it fits your bill perfectly. To add to it, used ones are pretty decently priced. If you lay ur hands on the top model, "Royale", because of the sun roof, sky is the limit for the wing span...  ;D
