I have been thinking of putting in some serious money in to r/c planes market in India and maybe producing some simple chuck gliders. Not sure however how big the market is. Any tips / thoughts / ideas or notes on market study sources will be highly appreciated.

I do believe it is possible to sell quality stuff (no electronics / motor) in the range of 2.5k-3k for r/c crafts and maybe 250-500/- for simple (rugged) chuck gliders.

Please shoot back with what you think!

Thanks!

Yes that would be great, ARFs for 2.5k will be good. I will stop building planes if i get an Easy Star type stuff for 2.5k.

Few of the biggest LHS in India are always out of stock.  :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:
No the market is surely good, esp in the entry level and on the extreme end (25CC+)..
People would welcome LHS with Futaba, OS, and GreatPlane/Sig/Castle/Phoenix etc models. Stores stocking Trex-450 clones and spare would also be good.
And yes, Laser cut 'Short' kits would also be kind to people like me and many other around.

But be honest with the prices. 200%-300% margins are thing of the past with a fierce price war going on!

Just to clarify, my plan is not to import but to manufacture. Start with simple stuff and then move on to more complex models. We seem to have enough talent and resources in India - it is just a question of getting the finances right!
