Hi
I own a Honda twister and was wondering what will be the best way to carry my TB-20 plane to field. How do/did you carry your planes on bikes? I have explored some options like saddle bags but couldn't find a big one to carry a plane. Solution with reference to product sit/info will be helpful.
Please dont ask me to buy a car as a solution :giggle:
Regards
Ankur
Get a Pillion rider ! ask him/her to hold the airplane wing removed, ride slow avoid hard braking! some one or the other always helped me when i was yet to get hold of my dad's car!
Not possible in my case Jatayu !!!! How about trailers?? Anybody has experience with them ?
Ok seems like no one uses a bike. Until I come up with a permanent solution..this is how I am going to try to take it to the field.... :giggle: :giggle:
You can get a bag made for the plane which is specifically made to fit your bike . Or get a side cart and put it in that !
Yes Sahevaan
I am looking at that solution..but not able to find a vendor yet. Do you happen to know any such person ? I had a look at cramster stallion (http://www.cramster.in/products.php)..but they are too small.
Side cart will be too much hassle. Mono trailer like these (http://www.uni-go.com/) would be cool though.
Hopefully I will go to Baner field tomorrow with my current bag..lets see how it turns out to be :)
Another idea !!!

it is easy to make a box appropriate to hold an aircraft.. can make from 6 mm plywood, with twin "U" clamps at main end.. can fix it just above the saree guard, with tow metal strips, along with two ear nuts.. works well.. you can line in the box with soft felt, with u foam , saves craft from scratches.. can divide in to two sections, as one for airctaft and one for wing.. can also add one base plate as opening, with two cup board hinges, so can fix the plane inside while the landing gears goes outside, and just close the door from outside.. two press locks works well on door.. you can also fix this box just above the exhaust silencer, just over the grab rails with same metallic strips and ear nuts.. and make sure the size and type of your box, is appropriate for your craft.. without taking a little pain nothing will come..an RC model is like a chubby baby.. extreme care should be taken when in travel.. so a good box is a must.. with inner soft lining.. have nice RCying..
you might wanna try a guitar carrying bag
Bought Cramster Colt saddlebags for my bike.
Thats one of the best things for a long cruise on a bike,i realy wanted them but couldnt find them, and then a bag tied with parachute ropes left my GT650 with tons of scratches... :(
Whereto buy them from?
Hi Traxxrc1
Yes they are fantastic. I bought them from Xlimitz pune..very near to my place. You can check out at his page

I have been thinking of attending the Pinjore meet of AMA and I am confused as to how attendees transport their equipments to meets which are far away from their location (like Mumbai to Pinjore).
I would like to know your experiences and methods of moving the equipment to and fro and also would like to be suggested ways to transport my own stuff from Goa to Pinjore and back.
Thanks
See the attached pictures will give you some idea..
Can/should I carry a bunch of lipos while travelling by air?
The main problem arises when the horizontal stab is fixed in. Intricate packaging needs to be done. I have shifted models (by road) fom Del to Bom and back.
Yes, that's true, my bixlers need to be taken apart to be carried.
What about the lipos?Can/should I carry a bunch of lipos while travelling by air?
when it comes to the stabilizer and tail, if you can detach it, put blocks of foam between them, and masking tape it down tight....
that will keep it rigid.
Bubble packing must help...
Rtfs and arfs are shipped with them... make your own air sacks by using sealable pouches and your mouth
I was amazed by this thing when I saw it in use the first time a few years back. But it was in the US, and not sure if it is available locally.

These are used while shipping fragile items which are shock sensitive...
You get them when you buy ome microcontollers, pcbs, development boards from online dealers... I have a few
Regarding lipos, it will depend on the policy of the airline you choose to fly with
If they are available locally at affordable rates and in bigger sizes, then transporting the tail sections of planes would be simplified.
i got a custom metal trunk made for my bixler, which i use. inside, i have molded it with thermocol so the aircraft fits snug. it even has a slot for the Tx. would post pics, but net is slow...
This should give you plenty of ideas. You have enough sheet metal artisans in India they can make something similar.

how to transport rc planes to the flying field? i mean is it compulsory to buy a car before entering into rc world?
@rj varun
Haha
In 1970 we used to cycle 16km to Saket Police Ground in south Delhi.
Carrying my Inchworm towline glider with the towhook hooked to the back of the shirt collar.
In 1980 RC Aunt used to carry two Peacemakers while riding shotgun on my Enfield.
Haven't tried a boat yet...
Seriously though, you can easily carry your model on a two wheeler or even on a bus.
Like this:
Aaahaaaaa nostalgia!
Crowded public buses of Calcutta and the Magpie / Veron's Rascal models weren't a good mix. Not only did the models get damaged on the way to the 'Maidan', one had to fend irritating curious Doubting Thomas questions all the way, especially when you were 15 years old........
"Does it fly?"
"Did YOU make this yourself?"
"HOW did you make it?"
"Can I buy one readymade?"
"Is this paper? Why is it so tight?"
"Can my son make it?"
The worst part is that there was no CA in those days. All you had was NC TRadfix or Quickfix. Whatever was damaged in transit, was repaired and orally 'blow' dried on the field. I remember hiding behind the war trophy "Chaffee" Tank (which has probably been scrapped by now) and doing my repair work to avoid the pesky questionmongers.
The fence wasn't there then in 1979 (or was it :headscratch:) , however, I can almost see myself crouched................why did these last 35 years whiz past so soon?
why no one has replied for my question? :headscratch:
mr kk iyer
i mean wow , in 1970 people were flying rc , i am a delhite , just for the curiosity , can you post some pictures of that time including landscape of delhi saket area at that time , if possible, i am also fond of watching past time things
thank you answering my question. :salute: .i would probably choose bus for transporting rc planes to the bus stops near kovalam. From there i can reach the flying field by auto rickshaw. ;D
