What is the best time of the day to fly rc planes, when there is very little or no wind ,
coz my planes wing loading is 4 oz/ sq feet , so on its maiden it got easily carried away by the wind and crashed into a building.
So wanted to know which is the correct time to fly.
Experts ( especially in bangalore ) please help :help:
Hey Dhaksha, I saw your video. You should take two things in consideration:
1) Try to fly in a big open ground/ field so that even if there are winds you don't hit any buildings or people! I go to fields on the outskirt of my city where there are no people, trees or buildings to bother me while flying.
2) Do not try any maneuver before reaching a height of at least 40 ft. So that even if you lose control you get time to make adjustments.
That was some good flying though, considering that you were using a surface radio! :)
In winter, I used to fly any time of the day. Now it's mostly morning and evening.
Thanks bro , ill take that into consideration
and lol yeah i was flying with a surface radio :giggle:
Dhaksha, for lighter planes, its the best time is early morning..but need full power to take off, because of the humidity..on that time..and using a suface radio is not a problem, as all radios are based on same principles, except the control sticks, untill your radio uses a parabolic propagator..and if your aircraft is sufficiently powered thers no issue of wind and climates..have some nice flights..
the motor already produces about 50grams more thrust than the auw weight of the plane, so nothing to complain about the power system :)
but the reason i want less wind is coz since the plane had too much dihedral, the wind just carried the plane away with it , and even if i gave left or right rudder , it used to get automatically centered.
While all this was happening the plane itself had gone so close to an apartment, so i just cut the throttle and let it go its way :giggle:
and thanks for the Advice ,
i only hope my second flight isnt a disaster.
this time ill go to a field or so like swapnil told
Dhaksha..we need only very little angle on wings..especially for a lighter one..and yes, a big flying field is more safer and a key to sucess..have some nice flights again..
early morning at around sunrise
+1
at the time of sunrise or at sunset are idle timing as there is hardly any wind at these timings.
nd btw enjoy my first maiden of my second plane guys :D

Come and fly at the Doddabommasandra Lake in Vidyaranyapura before the rains fill it up.
any info about winds???
Daksh.. from your video, seems the tail surfaces are too small for the main wing..think so..
