So what software does people use to design their planes before it actually goes on a foam. People please share the software name & the link from which the software can be downloaded. Also some basic idea like what that software is capable of and your experince from it.

I feel Google sketchup is the best for beginners and also quite user friendly and FREE.

Hey Rohit, do share your scratch plans man. I bet many of us here use plans posted on site.
I have done small degree of design for motor mount, control horn etc and use AutoCad.
Planning to design packable Flying wing with GF reinforced Styro wing, composite fuse and CF Wing joiner.

Oh no! don't take it that way ujj bhaiya, i am absolutely new to Google sketchup, i have done some designs in it for our sp4mm3r. Other than that i have just done some basic airplane designs, nothing to show-off  :giggle: The foamy that i am building right now is the first one i designed in Sketchup(the basic design is of a cessna 182  :giggle: :giggle:). I was basically introduced into it by Rcpowers. I have done some other designs of machine and machine parts, for my college isometric drawing projects.

I feel that this is the simplest and easy to use. I will be introduced to AutoCAD and CFD in subsequent years in my college. But for now, Sketchup will do.  ;D

CFD is absolutely enticing as a subject, its integration in making rc products would be revolutionary

I use autocadd and Revit. Google sketchup can be the most easiest and basic, in 2d as well as 3d modelling..
I can take off and fly well. Its landing which sucks :banghead::banghead:

I have downloaded this software called RcCad but not sure how helpful it can be. Anyone used or using this software amd able to make some comparison.

hi all
Google sketchup free does not offer scale printing. That part is really essential for us. Any other options? cant shell out a 100 dollars for the paid version!!!

??? Could you specify the context please. As I understand,  the topic refers to software used to design RC aircraft, for foam construction etc.
Could not understand your post. Request if you could clarify what software you are referring to.
Thank you
