hi guys

i need some help in understanding the effects of wing loading on a glider,i have recently started converting a Fox multiplex chuck glider to 2CH RC glider with rudder/elevator controls now i have done some calculation n got 5.1 Oz/ft2 to be the wing loading

my questions

1) is this wing loading value okay or do i need to increase wing area or reduce weight to get better values
2) would too light a plane be a problems when flying in high winds
3) with the present setup (5.1oz/ft2 wing loading) what kind of wind speeds should one be looking to start of with
4) what is the minimum wind speed the model can be flown in
5) do i need to add ailerons or user's preference ?

thanks

what about performance,i have seen some glider which are in the 30 inch to 50 inch wingspan range having wing-loadings in the range of 4.5 to 5.5 oz/ft2 will my glider also perform the same as these

hi sahilkit

As a general rule of thumb..wing loading upto 10 oz/sqft are classified as slow planes capable of flying dead slow :D . these are mostly indoor flyers

11-around 20 are medium speed planes and capable of taking some wind.

20 and above are fast planes which can handle wind too.
