i lost my y connector... ordered it from rcb...  I'll definetly post its flying vedios...for now you can look at my model at
its a self built airp. from styrofoam i.e. scratch built

desairaj

hey! nice build. what is the material you used?
where did you get it from in delhi? do you have any fpv system for your model?

1km altitude LOS? Forget LOS, is that even legal?? :O
It is the pervading law of all things organic and inorganic,
Of all things physical and metaphysical,
Of all things human and all things super-human,
Of all true manifestations of the head,
Of the heart, of the soul,
That the life is recognizable in its expression,
That form ever follows function. This is the law.

Last week when i was flying my flying wing in a open ground,
a guy in Bike approached me and asked "how far this thing could go, can it go for 1KM, 2KM, 5Km",
i asked him how far can you see, 1KM, 2KM, ..5KM? and i lost orientation by this conversation at just less than 200M and it went down straight to the Pitch where guys are playing cricket. when i went to pick up the model i could hear the guy starting up his bike and Tee off...

Okay....Good job Roby.

Hello Roby,
Could you tell the 1km flight was done at LOS or with and FPV setup. ALso, if it was FPV, then was it a complete fpv kit or something self designed.

There are a few tall claims as regards the performance of your aeroplane: -

(a) did it fly at all ?

(b) if it did, to go to 1 km were you on FPV (First person view, that is you connect a camera and transmitter and control the aeroplane via a video viewer).

(c) if it did it was a miracle, because there are lot of flaws in your aeroplane which you need to sort out first

not to mention, your wing has a bad slew, it is positioned incorrectly and of course the motor, looks extremely under powered to me (mostly because of the parasite drag)

john ! just go through the pictures as well, i have written it down there, if you need any help we are there. Dont hesitate to ask

Actually Sir,
I too participated in the workshop that was organised at IIT-K. This model was built over there only. I too build my model which is same as this one. Yeah, there are various wrong steps in these models. Actually, the workshop was scheduled over just 6 hours in which whole model had to be built from beginning including making airframe, sanding, assembling electronics etc. Also, there were a large number of participants and 2 hot wire cutters. So, these errors came in builds. Also, many participants were of beginner level who were new to this and din't knew much about building airplanes.
You would be shocked to know the control horns, first of all very big in size were given, then these were instead of being fixed with some adhesive were fastened by a thin metal wire :giggle: :giggle:. I even questioned them on following this method. Atleast, I tried to go with the thumb rules instead of following the organizers. This plane flies very nicely. It is very light weight, I hope AUW is hardly 500gm. It even performs stunts. Still, I too accept that there are numerous mistakes in this....

How did you know it had reached 1km altitude? :headscratch:

Did you use telemetry system with altimeter on board?
Build planes like feathers rather than tanks, both handle bullets equally well.

I can see upto 1km altitude. (Only problem is I see only clouds)
Must get myself a 3 or 4 mtr sailplane. Or get my eyes repaired.

I've found with telemetery that my wife flies at some 300 ft or so (4 ft span model)
These 1 km altitude flights are 10 times as high!
If she ever went that high, I'd never give her the Tx again.

The only guy we know who went that high is Rcpilotacro. And he didn't just go there with a model. He went there personally (without an airplane)

Roby, come on now. Flights of fancy?
