The biggest money is either running an RC store, or doing things like Arial Photography.  Both needs patience, hardwork, luck and dealing with bureaucracy.

other than rc-stores and the mentioned ones , building and selling model scalers, mostly 4x4rc .. very popular abroad . fabricating aftermarket parts . all require skills and tools .

Here is some footage posted by Arvind of Rotor Chennai.  Shot using a helicam, for the Malayalam movie "Trivandrum Lodge". Nice shadow of the helicam at 4:53 !

4 lakhs per day rent ? :o  That is a good way to earn using RC.

Seems like the heli did fall once into the sea, during its use on a second film called Maad Dad ! Footage recorded earlier was salvaged from the memory card.

Yes this is a profitable field. There are two ways of doing it. Either be a flash in the pan, supply junk, cheat and make your pile (will work once in a while) OR be honest and build goodwill.

I know of a person who has supplied junk and is running away from the authorities after supplying junk in the name of RC models. I also know of a person who the likes of one Captain Roshan and other Officers from an Army unit based near Kolkata, regularly call up for advice and help when it comes to building RC ship models. This person supplied 3 successfully working RC Hovercraft models to this Unit. Trust is the keyword here.

Take your pick. ;D

To one and all - if this is not relevant, ignore this post. To the one concerned person - If the cap fits, wear it. Beware, the noose is tightening, they are going to get you. Unknown to you, the process has started..............Are you M/s Siddhi Vinayak Enterprises?
Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional!

Sb_Maharana

Well VC, do you have an appreciation certificate / experience cert. or an inch of paper from that Organization to prove those hovercrafts are price worthy, working in good condition or even performed to the task at least for one day since it was delivered. If so prove it or else........

Now Lord Ganesha only knows who is M/s. Sidhi Vinayaka Enterprises ; and because of this I made my stand clear from the beginning to be "Service oriented" not involved myself in any purchase or sales to make money out of it or by selling Batteries, Motors etc. You people made more than 3.5 laksh by supplying 3 hovercrafts and 2 boats and want me to give free service against free food & accommodation. Last time I repaired the 1st Hovercraft, while repairing I found two hidden bicycle sprockets. You people even don't know how to balance a craft. Anyways I denied to repair other two; which are lying dead since arrived.

And there is no harm on telephonic advice / discussion .... Even few days back they asked about a motor replacement; I guided them properly.

Sorry to interupt.. I was really waiting for this topic for a long time. This is the biggest probably with this hobby. Modellers go professional after few years of flying and charge big bucks for models n training. There is no certification of any sort in the country and this serves very well to them. Some of them obviously supply absolute rubbish and quote it like a topgrade product n make flashy websites with fake pictures. On the other side there are ppl who simply cheat college kids.I have been a victim myself as a newbee one n half years back.i paid more than 20k to very well known seller...  for the following items.
hk 6 tx n rx
1 hk motor
1 hk esc 20amp
1 1000mah battery
1 2200mah battery
4 9gram servos
3 gws prop
Seriously!!!!!!
I wud have setup a 60size plane in that amount.i met few guys in college who had paid 1000bucks for a standard servo and 500bucks additional for the servo arms.

The hobby definitly has monetory potential. Most of the new bees pay much more than the legitamate cost of the products. u know why... coz ppl wanna make money here..

Then we have so called AMA..  We all know what they have done till now.. Apart from repairing their airfield and collecting 20k membership fees... And fighting mutually for presidency.. n all their politics n mutual ghotala n corruption.. thats another epic topic.. lets not go there..

The other big thing with us Indians is the EGO.. Ego of what?? flying big models or flying better or having more experience?..  Not a single flyer in the country can stand a position in the local club competitons of US or Europe.. So to hell with you, ur experience n ur big models..

The good guys on the forum are fedup n walking away and the forum is taken dominated by buy/sell posts..  And then there guys who really brag...

yes sir there is hell lot of opportunity of making money here amongst us.Welcome to this wonderfull hobby filled with cheats n goons.
I ll give u a tip.. You can make a corro model n sell for 5k or u can make it out of local ply n sell it for 7k.. You can either take the money n runaway or deliver ur filthy product 3months later. No one will give a sh@* .

Why dont we just keep this hobby as a hobby... ?? Lets not compare urselves with arvind n others.. He have been flying for more than 20years.. N has been devoted n dedicated to the hobby. Made a club n a runway for flyers. Maintains a store for the same.

U still wanna make money here bro?.. contribute sumthing first..

regards
shadman

There is a way of earning money with RC. There are people (sellers), whom i have interacted with either for cars or planes, who have been kind to me. Today, after spending many months learning and understanding how RC products are priced, i hope they make a profit. They served and guided me well :)

Here is where things get complicated, and I start to feel dejected.  On one hand, you have yourself been taken for a ride and have experienced the pain of paying too much for RC stuff.  Trade activity on the forum really helps with preventing such incidents.  Multiple people have confessed here (and in person) about not seeing this forum earlier, which would have saved them a lot of money.  We cannot/should ignore this positive side of trade activity on forums like these, and every large forum in the world operates the same way in this regard.

Now the second part about "good guys being fed up and walked away"... that is what is wrong in my eyes.  See the US forums... they have a lot of trade, but they also have quite a bit of other stuff.  Why ?  The users there turn a blind eye to commercial stuff if they have no interest in it.  The people here decided that it is not worth trying to bring up discussion topics that are not trade related, instead choose to walk away... which helps nothing in the long term !

Now I am to be blamed for something in this regard.  Currently, people have the ability to ignore boards, which means they NEVER see those boards.  This would allow people to shut out commercial activity, but ALL of such activity.  I need to find some time to write the code that allows removal of commercial activity from the Recent Posts and Recent Topics lists.  It is on my TODO list.

Or a separate two list of recent activities one with commercial activities and other with other forum discussions would be interesting if possible.

Well, people have been contributing positively for helping people who need help (other than "wanted" thread) e.g. i posted a query about some issue with my Heli and within 24hrs it was all fixed, thanks to forum users.

So, though i am very new to this forum, but i find it very helpful in terms of both expecting good deals on hardware and very sane advice when needed.

Anwar is right in saying, whats wrong in having it all in one place, you see or show interest in what you want.
Let's fly!

abhay

Its difficult to earn your daily bread from RC. You always need to have some extra backup.
Earning here can be considered as just pocket money i guess..

I am talking it all about locally,in india..
I can take off and fly well. Its landing which sucks :banghead::banghead:

@Anwar: the man at the top is always alone.. Who else is to be blamed????.. We cant stop users from posting sales thread n filling up the recent posts with it...
We all like the forum. . Im sure that is why this topics pops up again n again.. No one likes to blame you.. But we expect you to do something about it... Turning a blind eye is NOT a solution. Its your escape sir.. How long will it take for you to write the code?.. an hour. .Max..

Secondly yes i got thugged.. But the guy who thugged me was on forum... So its the other way round here... Remember mr.praveen from flyrc.in... He thinks i kept quite n forgot about it..

[Admin Note] Two words deleted... no name calling please!

Izmile bhai... +2 !  When I used to work for someone else, we had someone in our team who told everyone "Give me 10 minutes" for anything and everything ;)  In reality, some requests would take 1 minute, and others would take hours (when he got around to them). But everyone understood that was his style, and he WOULD get things done as fast as he could (but no one really expected it to be 10 minutes on everything!).

The forum software (SMF) is a large codebase, so I have to analyze and understand the portions I need to change.  Then I have to change it in such a way that my changes can survive security upgrades that are issues by the SMF team from time to time.  If we do not keep up with the latest versions, chances are one will get hacked in no time.

In short, this is somewhat of an undertaking... certainly much more than an hour !
