Wish Anwar creates a separate FPV/AutoPilot Section and move the thread there, or at least makes this one as a sticky.

We are growing fast in terms of number of posts and topics, and so far I have been fighting the requests (and temptation) to add more categories/boards.

So I am requesting proposals on how to split up the boards further.

I believe that the "General Topics" and "RC Baazar" areas are pretty much fine (except for moving out the "RC Maneuvers and Skills" board out into something that is related to airplanes/helis/cars themselves).  Seems like Airplanes needs a dedicated section instead of just being under the broad section of "RC Models", with dedicated boards for "Scratch, Kit and Plan builds", "ARFs and RTFs" etc.

We should not have too many boards for small small differences either.

Proposals are invited :)

Basically "RC Models" is where the big surgery needs to happen.  Even "RC Equipments" seems to be OK.

Jet Engines and Jet Airplanes a separate section, if possible, Basic Jet Funda starting from Brayton Cycle and other stuff specific to RC Jets are waiting to get in.

For cars, you could split it into Off-Road and On-Road.. Maybe a separate Board for build logs?   8-)

Decisions !

Wouldn't it be better to have electric versus fuel split, than on-road versus off-road ?  Otherwise we will end up with 4, considering all possibilities.

Similar questions remain on airplanes and helis too.

Yes, we should have Electric vs Fuel.. But then, there will be 3 categories..
Elecrtic
Nitro
Gas

And considering the no. of plane people here, shouldn't we have more boards for planes and helis? Like Giant scale, Trainers, etc.. Not much of a plane guy  :giggle:
But inside of these sections, will there be more splits?
e.g - Trainers -->- Electric
                        - Gas
                        - Glow

That is too many for cars...  6 permutations (3 fuel types x onroad/offroad).

Similarly, we will have to make a meaningful number of boards for airplanes and others too.

We can leave on-road and off-road..
Only need 3 categories - Electric, Nitro, Gas.

May be all all of them (airplanes, heli, cars) need a "General Topics" board, which such matters can be discussed.

hi folks,

id like to make a suggestion. inside the fueled rc car section, we could have nitro and gassers. this is because, gassers are generally 1/5th scale and parts and knowhow differs a lot in these 2 cases.

cheers.

Sub Sub category :headscratch: Nav will become easy, Also one section on Engines and Motors as Powerplant is independent of the model

Example

* Airplanes

*** Kit and Plan Builds - Fuel Powered
****Jet Powered

*PowerPlant

***Glow Powered
***Gas Powered
***Jet Engine
***Electric Motors

Sub-sub categorization takes away the visibility, that is why you seldom see them in the big forums.

Kit and Plan Builds - Fuel Powered
Scratch and SPAD Builds - Fuel Powered
the above two has some redundancy.  being  'gray' can be argued both ways.

??? about power plant

Power plants alone already comes under separate discussion in "RC Equipments", just like we have now.
