It may be easiest if you can meet up with the local flyers at the Hadapsar flying field. Please see this thread :

Basically you can go to http://www.rcindia.org/mlist/?sa=search , put in "Pune" in the "Search for:" box, enable "Search by location" and click on the "Search" button.  It will list everyone who on the forum who noted that they are in Pune.  You can then look at the last column, which is the number of posts made by them here, to figure out who are the active members, and decide if you want to contact them using personal messages ("PM"), if you need specific help.

Hi Anwar,
In addition to the fields already in the member list, is it possible to add another column for the RC skill level of the member? For a beginer its rather cumbersome to click on each profile to figure out whether or not he/she can help become a trainer.

Sure, it is just that it is more involved than adding the location.  "Location" is a field that is part of the base forum software, and I populate it by combining the "City" and "State" fields (which are "addon" fields).  "RC Skills" is also an addon field, and displaying "addon" fields requires a bit more work/coding (as compared to "base" fields that are directly available).

Will try to get this done of these days when I am in the mood for coding (more like enough free time to do it) ;)

This feature has been added :)  Now you can see the self-admitted skill level of each member as the last column on the "Member List" page.

This is particularly useful when you want to see who are the experienced members in a particular city (just search members in that location, and look at this field).

Usually, the "trainee" will visit the field, in any case. He/she can, fairly easily, see relative skill levels and - more important - get the feel of who can/will help.

I think the problem is that there are many cities where the flying locations are not well known.  For example even though the Samirpet Lake is known in Hyderabad, I get the impression that there are other more active fields there. In such cases, it is good to know who the senior folks are, so they can be privately pinged for directions/advice.
