Hi All,

I am new to RCIndia, I have some issue with ESC in my Quadcopter I assembled, below is the description:
Quad has 1400kv motor, Sinmonk 30A ESC, KK 2.0 board, PCB. I am using FlySky CT6B TR/RX.
I assembled it and it flew very well till it fell after going out of range as I was told the range of TR is approx. 300 mtr but going as far as 30 mtr it fell.
Quad is configured in X-Mode where 1&2 motor is clock-wise and counter clock-wise resp.
Motor 3&4 is counter clock-wise and clock-wise resp.
Since it fell from then the Esc burning problem started, only the Esc of 2nd motor is getting hot and burning within 70 secs of flight.
I bought new PCB/Motor/ ESCs but using the same KK Board, there is no short circuit and so far I have lost 5 ESC's. I even tried losing the screws of motors and reset the KK board.
Last time I observed that when I take off the blades and run the motor, ESC is not getting hot but when I tried to fly it blew up. I couldn't figure out what causing the problem.
Please share some solutions.

You brought spares of the motors, esc and the flight controller and it still didn't work? Am I right? Have you tried replacing the motors or KK2.0 Flight Controller? Waiting for your reply for the possible solutions.

@YashasR,
I have changed the ESC and motor but using the same Kk board. Alsothis problem only started after it fell while flying and before it was flying very well and stable too.
Yesterday I took off the blades and ran the motors and ESC was not getting hot but the moment I tested with blades it blew the ESC.
All the circuit in KK board are interconnected, It shouldn't be running if even one pin in the board had any short circuit issue.

This is Strange because the most possible things that could get damaged are the propellers. Motors have a very less chance of damaging and they can be damaged  at very hard impacts directly on the propeller that exerts to much pressure on the motor. ESC also have less chance of damaging as the can get damaged on motor stalls only(when the power is given but the motor cannot spin because of something stopping it to spin). I dont think there are any chances of the Flight Controller getting damaged because the pulse is only being supplied by the board and there is not load on it. And I also have a F450 for which I programed by Arduino Mega as a Flight Controller. I have crashed it many times because it is not perfect on PID tuning and have broken 4 propellers. 1st and 2nd broke while landing, 3rd and 4th broke when it was oscillating and fell really hard on some grass from a height from 5-6m which is quiet much for a 1.2kg quadcopter with a 3s 5200mah lipo and the extra weight of Video transmitters and the small camera. But still it works fine nothing damaged except the propellers and it flies as I replaced them. And I wanted to know that did you leave the motors on for a while when it crashed or you instantly turned it off. And did you buy the esc from the same seller every time? Could you provide the link of the esc, motors and the flight controller so that I can see. and it would really be appriciated if you could some pictures of your quadcopter and the best you can do....

Please share some pics of the same.
If you are to soar high remember to look up......

For how many days / times did you fly Before crashing ?

AJuliet10

It was like more than 20 days, It flew very well and I was setting the P and I gain value accordingly.

Please try a different motor. Maybe the motor has a bent shaft or it a got some resistance to move freely. Without load it is till able to spin but with the prop on, it may be overloading the ESC causing it to burn prematurely.

You may want to try a different fc board as well. Maybe on pin 2, the output is not as expected.
Hope you had calibrated the ESC and motor.

Try running the motor and the ESC with load using a servo tester on a bench.
This will rule out the probability of a bad motor /ESC.
Then try replacing the FC and see if it makes a difference.

I have a hunch that the PWM output on pin 2 is messed up.
Cheers !!!

@saurabhhsrivastavaa
I too have a doubt that the pin 2 is messed and not giving the right amount of output. I'll check and probably change the KK board.
Is there any way to change/replace the PWM Output.

Thanks

@saurabhhsrivastavaa

I have change the motor and tested but still the same problem.

Is it possible to change the capacitors of burned ESC's and use them, it's only the capacitors are blown and burned.

swapnilnimbalkar

Try PPM mode if your TX and flight controller support it

AJuliet10

@ swapnilnimbalkar

I am using FlySky FS CT6B TR/RX and it does not support the PPM Mode.

Hi All,

Here is the drone pics.

YashasR

Some closeup pics of the board, motors and the esc which is damaged?

AJuliet10

Will click and post, but see in the pic the capacitor is blown and there is hole, this is what happened to all ESC's.
I think if I can replace the capacitors then ESC's can work again.
