Dear fellow RCers,

I wanted to highlight a few thoughts on what it would require from each of us to make this forum a success.

1) I guess the first thing is to define "success".  I believe it is simple,  "success" is when this forum becomes a place where people (especially newcomers) get access to unbiased information, especially on prices.

2) So how do we go about achieving that ? The key is for us to focus on the good news; like good prices, good service, helping one another etc.

3) We also need to try to bury/avoid/ignore (in general, not discuss) any discouraging news; like exorbitant prices, small lapses in service, direct references to individuals, etc.  I feel that it is no different than managing a business, being a part of a team, or living a happily married life  ;)  All these work best when we try to focus of the good, and ignore the negatives.

4) Spread the word !  Any forum in successful only when a variety of people come together. Collective wisdom is a wonderful resource.

5) There may be cases where someone pointed out that some item is available at a good price at one store.  Another store can come in and offer the same for a better price.  For this forum to be successful, the first store owner needs to realize that this is all part of the game, and not cry foul.  When that happens, this forum will be successful.  In fact, the forum will be ballistic when the first store owner offers an even bigger discount   8-)

Note:  I was not smoking anything nasty when I wrote all of this  ;D

Wow, we had 41 distinct logged in users today  :o, and many more who did not bother to login !  We are getting to critical mass now !  Thank you everyone  {:)} {:)} {:)}

Please let me know if there is anything we can do to make this forum better.

As always, please spread the word. If you own a website, please put a link back to http://www.rcindia.org .  Incoming links greatly increase our visibility for people who search the net for RC websites in India (and elsewhere).

Frankly, this forum is an excellent place to get virtually any help and data on this hobby. Its not just a seller's online shop alone. With more build and fly logs and hobby build fly discussions this forum will be even better.

one more thing to increase the rating would be to post a review or a guide to every plane which you buys and also a video of it. it helps others decide and hence they can spread the word about our forums quality info.

You may have noticed some HobbyKing and other ads appearing on the RC India header area.  These are Google Adsense ads.  I have coded it up in such a way that LHS ads and Adsense ads will appear randomly.  The size of the Adsense ads will also be made smaller in the next couple of days (waiting for Google to approve the new ad size).

In the interest of full disclosure, these ads do bring in small bits of revenue to the forum.  The idea is not at all to make money using this, but to fund the expansion/visibility of the forum into even more people using Google Adwords.  RC India ads should now be appearing in various Google search results and sites that display Adsense ads, hopefully letting more people know about the existence of this forum.  Adwords does cost money, and this is an effort to get the left hand to feed the right hand !

I have restricted display of dating sites etc, hopefully the ads displayed automatically by Google are of relevance to RC (and we are pretty much helpless if they are not).

Its a timely strategy change Anwar. Many of us here highly applaud you for all you have done for the forum selflessly.

Would it make some monetization to the site if HK site by clicking the Ad in the forum ? I am pretty outdated, but long back in eaely 2000, all was based on 'Click; and 'Eyeballs' .

It is time that this forum generated some income and advertised itself.Even if you did make money(or the forum),I would be happy.

As Ujwal said, you have taken great efforts to run this forum and its time you received some more advertising space. The Adsense idea was a good one.

Lets hope google makes sure we get RC related adverts.

You can try and convince the roadside painters to write " Ok-Rcindia " behind the trucks insted of " Ok-TaTa "  ;)

Ya Anwar Bhai,
I came to know many things(legends) about you and this Forum from fellow RCer from here in Bangalore, Hats off for you and your efforts for developing RC scene in India through this forum. I myself owe a lot to this forum for embracing me and enlightening me with inputs and information which is in fact invaluable for me, and I presume many Rcers would like to agree with me.

I have observed RCers feel so homely and pampered here. And atmosphere here is just like a homely chat (or GUP-SHUP as they say here in India).

No effort/Venture can succeed with proper feeding of finance and the most appropriate way is self reliance. So I think this is a move which is most welcome. Though I have no right to do so. This is your humility to announce this here on this fora.

Thanks a Lot Anwar Bhai for giving us this forum.

All the Best

It is against Google Adsense terms to actively promote clicking on banners. But to answer your question... yes, it is clicks on these banners (and subsequent spending/purchases on the target websites) that causes the trickling in of Adsense revenue.

Some of Us, especially the ones who do not use Facebook etc initially find it difficult to Blog around in forums (Though over time it appears a piece of cake). Here is the first tip

how to start a new topic, pictorially (A pic is worth a thousand words, !!! so i heard)
