Hi anwar

I really applaud you for the efforts you have put in hosting this site and providing a great platform aeromodellers all over India. Since i have a strong creative side to me as well, one thing that always disturbs me is the rc india logo. Its not of that good resolution...no offences to the person who made it..but i just want that this great website should look great too.

So i took the trouble of creating a logo for you on the same line as the existing logo..just refining it a bit and adding a 3d effect. Please use it if you like it..i will feel like i have given back something to this forum. If you need any graphic design in future...do tell me..i love designing.

The image is of the same size and name as your current logo...so no mods will be required to do.

You are the second person to offer a logo, appreciate that !

The one we have now was the result of couple of quick hack sessions by myself, while in the middle of saving the world !  I mean it did not get any attention that it probably deserves.  I was going to work on a better one (at least one at better resolution), since we are planning to come out with some propaganda merchandise (teeshirts etc) to promote the hobby (and of course, this forum).

I am going to critique your sample, with the only intention of improving it; and I hope you take it in a positive sense.

1.  The plane on the right is a little too big (in terms of symmetry).

2.  I would like to see a little better separation (or enhanced border) for each of the letters; making each individual letter more readable.

I like the drop shadow in the existing one, as it gives a little bit of 3D ("pop out") effect, but it is largely immaterial.

In short, I will accept your revision if you can work on some more versions of this (as time permits). Of course you will have hand over all rights to the logo created unconditionally (signed of stamp paper worth Rs50  :P), and a source file (Photoshop or Illustrator or whatever else you are using).

I like people with a creative side, as I think I have a little bit of it in me some where :)  Here are some of the paintings I have done  (what a show off!  ;D)

Nope, any plane you want.  But let it be similar in size to the radio on the left (although that does not reflect reality).

Stamp paper is part of your overall donation/volunteer effort !  :P

The chakra and letter colors were supposed to represent India (the flag).

Plus adding a heli to the mix leaves only cars out  :o

Just look at our members, about 80% are plane folks (based on the information from the registration form).

That is the first one that comes to everyone's mind when they think about RC.

Talking about logos, Anwar, can we have some stickers made for Rcindia? We have it for Team-bhp forum and I have it on my RC cars and also on my Alto and Zen.

Team-bhp sold them for 250Rs a set of 10 different stickers. I got 2 sets just as a way of contributing to a wonderful forum I learned so much from.

If that is not possible, can you grant permission to make them ourselves and display it on our cars. May help to promote the forum.

We are beginning on something like that.  But you (and everyone else) are welcome to use the logo to make stickers (or teeshirts or hats or whatever) for personal use and for friends (I mean non-commercial use). 

The only suggestion I have is to put something like "www.rcindia.org" in small letters under the logo image (since it is not clear from the logo itself whether it is ".com" or ".org")

Nice.. we are getting there.

1) Please make the plane a bit smaller (not too larger than the radio), and give it a bit of the rounded effect like in the radio. The point being "symmetry". If another plane or the same from another angle (like if you applied a little right aileron to the plane in the picture) helps you do it, go for it !

2) Consider giving a drop shadow to the Asoka Chakra also.

3) See if the letters of "RC India" can be a bit more "pronounced". Currently, they feel a bit dull compared to the black items on either side. Especially the borders of the word "RC".  BTW, this is just another "nice to have". 

Thanks again working on this.  I would have loved to do this, but 24 hours is not enough already.

regarding the dullness of the letters Rc India..i don't have much options as

the colors of the letters are mainly fixed by the tri color flag. The drop shadow being applied on the letters doesn't leave me with much experimentation as grey background does not bring out the letters properly.

It is difficult to give a aileron to the plane as it is too small to be visible distinctly. Though i added minor 3d effects. I have attached for you to see two different pics one with drop shadow and other without it. See for yourself.

If you take the second one, and do the following, I think we are done.

1) Make the plane 15% or 20% smaller

2) Reduce the greylevel ("blackness") of both the the radio and plane by 15 to 25%

That would mean your ISP or company is using cache servers.  Ctrl-F5 (forced refresh) may work, otherwise you may have to wait till the cache expires.

rightly said, we should finalize the logo first..i tried your half orange and half green logo.but i cant use the current color scheme as it highly eye straining in this style...so i lightened the colors a little...have a look( i have attached a number of logos varying the orange colors or glass effects). Also have mailed you the corrected logo and ai file without the drop shadow in "i".  ;)

For what purpose do you want the logo?? If you intend to print it on a cloth i could make a standard eps file which is used for printing purposes. Once finalized the eps file will be mailed to anwar who can then distribute as he likes. What do you say???

I think the letters are too dim.  Can you send the one where the letters are at their original color ? I mean the one that was causing the eye strain.

I do not see any eye strain issues with this one.  So I am going to put this to a poll, to decide among the two new versions.

I also feel that the forum address must be mentioned somewhere on the logo.

As soon as we finalize the logo, we will post a hi-res one here, for ANYONE to copy and use in a non-commercial way.  If you are making stickers, please make like 50 extra ones, I will pay your expenses for the same. I intend to give them out along with the sweepstakes, and distribute among friends.

Yes, please add a "www.rcindia.org" line below the logo when you make the stickers (instead of incorporating it into the logo itself).

Wonder if we should have a hi-res one for everyone to download, without the drop shadows for ease of printing on tee-shirts etc. Anybody with experience in that ?  Does the fine gradation of shadows work on fabric ?

old logo(RC in orange and India in Green) looks better compare to new one....but..but...i feel that the airplane is more closer to fonts compare to radio...just 1mm more space between them will make the logo symmetric....again, it is just my opinion....

Thanks for the feedback !  You are right the plane is closer, but that is a middle-ground we had to take because the plane is inherently larger than the radio. 

The more we move the plane to the right, the more we will feel that there is a lot more "black" on the right side compared to the left side.  So the symmetry I was looking for is more in terms of equal amounts of "black area" on both sides of the letters, as opposed to the actual distances from the letters themselves.  The current arrangement allows the edges of both the black sides of the logo to feel at somewhat equal distance, instead of having the plane taking up a whole lot of space on the right side as compared to the radio on the left side.

I don't know if I explained it well or confused the heck out of you ;)  In short, this was done on purpose, based on one veiw point.  Again, all a matter of personal preference !

Wonderful looking at the new Logo. Just now I visited the site after a long time.

And as a professional designer I could create logos for the offshore people, but I failed to create a logo for our own country. I feel very sorry, I missed it!

Not sure if we wanted to get into such detail. Ankur can add couple of circles and sticks to it, but as long as it conveys the message (which it does even now), we are OK with it.  But they cannot be plain circles; they have to take into account the light, shadow and viewing angle.

Let me see if I can get a hold of AI so that I can put a hi-res version of the logo as is for everyone to use.  The wing shadow can be done later.

Most likely it will be the first week of Oct, after I return from my trip.

well anwar...the issue is the if we export a hi res jpg for the printing of stickers, t-shirts etc. we'll actually limit the max size till which it can be printed with good resolution(above which it will pixelate). That will depend on the resolution of the jpg exported. That means for every size that we have to print we have to export a different resolution of jpg...which can be tedious.

Those of you who need the logo for printing..please confirm from your printer guy if he accepts the standard .epg extension file for printing...and if not what ext file does he need apart from jpg and other similar formats with limited resolution capacity.

i will upload a standard .epg file soon.

and one more thing

it will be costly to get the logo printed with the drop shadows if at all the printing guys agree to print it. Should i keep them or do away with them for printing purposes???

If any of you want a specific print size..do let me know and ill put up that custom size jpg up here.

Our official logo for the forum will have the drop shadow. But we can generate hi-res version with or without the drop shadows, as required by the audience.

I am guessing something that can support a "2inch x 6inch" size would do, and it can be scaled down if needed.

Here are two hi resolution jpg's..should be suitable for stickers..one has a drop shadow and the other doesnt.
I would suggest people who are going to print bigger size to check the resolution of print first on a sample paper.

The size uptil which there should b no problem of resolution should be 3x9 inches. (but i suggest you take a sample print first).

Let me know if you face any problems.

Shouldn't we remove the "reflection" also from the second one (for ease of printing) ?  Or put a version out there which has the reflection and the shadows removed.

added a shadow to the plane wings...check them out. I finally got the shadows a bit to my liking...was trying to get them rite for the last hour and a half..boy its 4 in  the morning ... :sleepy:

If the plane is a high-winger, the highlight on the wing should run end to end on the leading edge of the wing.  If the plane is a low winger, the highlight on the top edge of  fuselage should run from the nose of the plane to the tail.  What we have now is a plane that confuses us whether it is a low winger or a high winger  :giggle:

Great job on the shadow  :thumbsup:  Please fix the wing/fuse highlight when time permits !

Great job on the shadow of the plane and the tx, but what about "RCINDIA" ? Should that not have a shadow as well. Also the aerial should also have a shadow, I suppose.

Thanks for appreciating the work. ;D If you are talking about the style of shadows on tx and plane ..yes will try that (actually there is a slight vertical gradient in the letters though subtle)..as far as drop shadow is considered we had that in earlier version and discarded that due to contrast issues.

The logo is still having white background but some minor modifications with the plane has been done highlighting the wings and the body.
