As an alternative field to Jakkur, we could also use Hoskote lake bed for flying. Ofcourse, you do not have a very level patch for airplanes. You could manage a high wing trainer, but i doubt you would want to risk a good tail dragger or a big model.
For helis its definitely a best place you could find.
You need to drive down on Old Madras road, just before the hoskote town, you'll find a huge open field on your left. Theres an old bridge kind of structure where you need to take a left and find an enterance to the lake bed.

Adarsh
Thanks Adarsh {:)}
I request fliers from other cities also to post their hubs in separate threads. If you can include Google Maps links, that would be great. If those Google maps links are annotated, it would be even better 8-) For an example of annotated Google Maps links, please see the links below.

Apart from helis, electric flyers who belly land their planes would also love the place. Only problem is it gets water logged during the monsoon season.
Here are some old pics I had of the site
Are there any RC modellers in and around Electronics City, Bangalore or can drive down here. I can seek permission from my Organisation to use the cricket ground for RC practice on Sundays...
That would be great! Will the field be free on sundays?
Regards,
Adarsh
+1
Yes, the ground is free on Sundays. If I get a group of 10 people I can put my best efforts. Also, there is a large open space just behind my home in Electronics City. It belongs to the state Government and we can use it as much as we like here. The cricket ground is posh though...
Lets catch up nevertheless at the least at the ground behind my home on Sunday?
Lesser like me never got the 'Legal' ticket to Jakkur to rub shoulders with people like Adarsh. Would we able to see him at Hoskote at least occasionally ?
@phoenixsunil: that'd be awesome! To be honest I'm not sure how regularily I can come out there but Hoskote is pretty much the same distance so I guess it won't matter much :). Really looking forward to it!

Pls. post the location of both places, especially the "gov owned" one ;-)
The location of the Government land is opposite Wipro Gate 1, the entrance is from the next of my building in Doddathogur, Opposite Venlankani Gate 2, Electronics City phase 1. Whoever is interested pls PM me your mobile numbers and I will guide you. I will respond to your PM with my mobile number.
Great find guys... if we have enough people we can meet up regularly to fly there. I live nearby to BEML/HAL so this would suit me as well. :)
@findvikas: Drone and myself have a tentative plan for this weekend to meet on the Gov owned land - behind my home. PM me your mobile number, we can discuss??
Today we went in search of an alternative for hoskote lake bed as its flooded. I came to know by locals that government is planning to fill up the lake in the next 3-4 years by diverting all excess water from nearby lake. So even after the rainy season, flying there might not be possible.
We found quite a big place, around 3km from toll-gate. Unfortunately here people are flying powered gliders and there is lot of crowd school kids+ village guys. Slowly their curiosity might fade away. Place looks good for fomies atleast fornow. There is around 500 mts of mud road from main road.
Here are the pics.
Nice find Ashok! Excellent job. The place looks so dry... good news for we people!
Is that near village Doddahullur ? could you please make a Google Map placemarker ?
Here is the route (http://maps.google.co.in/maps?saddr=13.083930,+77.784585&daddr=Hoskote+Toll+Gate,+NH+4,+Bengaluru,+Karnataka&hl=en&ll=13.074337,77.782731&spn=0.038877,0.052314&sll=13.078642,77.779963&sspn=0.019438,0.026157&geocode=FRqlxwAdCeaiBA%3BFVBKxwAdIbSiBCG_tMnFUXqKBw&vpsrc=6&mra=ls&t=h&z=15) from toll gate to the field

Old runway was on the left side of (A). This is on the right side of the road.
hi everyone:)we are planning to do a aero fest and as a part of it we are planning to do a RC aero show and some workshops. would some one be help me with findin a suitable ground for flying rc models in bangalore..
Hi ,
I am very new to bangalore . I was flying rc plane but it was abroad.
Today I tried to find out the location in hoskote .
Almost 2 hrs I was driving around the area to find out the rc flying field and no one in the have no idea about it.
Pls anyone help me with the are and what time you guys come down to fly ?
There is a sticky thread with link to maps on top of this board.
Here's the link to the thread.
http://www.rcindia.org/rc-locations-and-clubs/mega-list-of-rc-fields-locations-clubs-in-india/
Than you . I have already tried the same map and was not able to find it.
Also mailed they guy who name was there in the link.
No reply from anyone.
I think I should find myself a place to fly !!!
I can assure you that the map is correct. Did you go the location marked "runway" ? That is where the flying happens now. Where did you lose track ? May be I can add more instructions on the map there.
Where are you in Bangalore ? You could try tagging along somebody near you.
I am located in frazer town.
Last time when I went to hoskote I took the first left after toll which was not tarred toad . I didn't find anyone .
I came back to the main road travelled 2 km further and took a left again where there was a kalyana mandapam and travelled in that road 1.5 km , there was open ground but no one was flying.
Just confused !
Is it before the toll or after the toll ?
It's before toll.
Open the following URL:
https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=NH+75&daddr=Unknown+road&hl=en&ll=13.066728,77.766809&spn=0.035868,0.066047&sll=13.055323,77.764948&sspn=0.002242,0.004128&geocode=FeY0xwAdo5iiBA%3BFUiaxwAdiHKiBA&t=h&mra=me&mrsp=0,1&sz=19&z=15
Follow the route mentioned in the URL. The satellite imagery does not show a runway but it exists hardly 200-300 mtrs to the right hand side road of point B.
HTH
Ok cool ! Thank you very much Ashutosh. I will come there this weekend .
How about the flying timing ? and I hope I will not get lost finding the place !!

Its before toll you should take service road and take left .
Even i found it difficult to find it out for the first time.
Sometimes I may go tomorrow between 10-11 am.
