Not a regular (as in every week) flying place, but we flew a few times at the ground behind the ESI hospital near Kottayam town.  A nice location, next to a hill (but flat ground).  Some people I know fly there occassionally.

Some pics attached.

I can see from the picture that you have a Tiger trainer on the field, but was not sure if there is enough open space there to fly that. I will check this place next week. Thanks for the information. :)

Am from Kottayam, working in Jeddah, KSA. Right now am thrilled as I am taking my annual vacation (july 7th till Aug 8th). Hope to make a profile jet or a small SPAD. Well profile Jet seems more appropriate as I wont need a run way (hand launch). Glad to know that there is a spot near Kottayam for RC flying. Thanks for the info :)

Get in touch with Prakkat, he flies right outside his house these days, in a recently cleared rubber plantation.

Thanks Anwar, I am in touch with Santhosh, who offered some help and to introduce me to Prakat. Hoping for a fun filled vacation. I intend to introduce this hobby to my nephew (he is 12 and in Dubai flying coaxial helis), who is also visiting us. This is one of the reasons other than the urge to fly (basic instinct), I intend to risk my spare Tx/Rx, Lipo's etc where Customs is still a scary thing.

If you are within kottayam town, check out the medical college ground (Called ESI Ground). Same one in the first post of Anwar Gi. I fly my smal, nitro and foam planes while on vacation. But this year I will reach only by August 10th.

Thanks Manoj, I have already noted that one on Google map ;) I will return on Aug8th.....what a shame.... may be we could meet next vacation :) In fear of spots, I am considering profile jets. Now that there is at least this site as well as any other once I meet with Prakat bhai.. I think I could make a eSPAD. Am looking for couple of items now (40A esc, 2.2 Lipo, mini servos etc.). Once I heard that there is a hobby shop in EKM or Perumbavur... got to find them.

bmanoj2

Yes there was a post from Mr. Prakat if I remember correctly. But not sure if they have these thigs available. As Anwar Gi told order from one of the shops in south India.you have shops in Bangalore and Madras and they can sen it to your house before you reach from Saudi.

Yes Manoj, looks like that could be the way to go. Thanks. Am a bit worried bout bringing Lipos through our Customs.

I found a small open area (where my friends play cricket) near my place (Karapuzha, Left turn just before Thiruvathukkal town). Flew couple of times, there are some puddles of water here and there, still doable. First day I was attacked by just about 100 crows, but later on did not see any. Could not enjoy much as my one night built SPAD trainer (plus its week as I couldn't find 4mm coro) is not so perfect :( . Planning to build a mini version of SPADSTICK this week.

And above all, I lost the only 8x3x8 prop the first day here. Its on a 7x4 which is not sufficient for this birdie for a quick take-off :(

Thanks guys...by the way these flights were few days after a crash landing at Santhosh Bhai's place. The fuse was crumbled in the impact. Few skewers here and there, she is back alive :D

Sunday Update:Visited the said site (ESI ground), flew 3 or 4 times and had fun. At last I found out why my bird was having trouble landing :)) The horizontal stabilizer was at least 10 degree off!!! Fixed it yesterday night and she flew quite well today :) The site is quite good and i really loved flying there. A more sporty model would have been more fun..any how enjoyed today's flying!!! Attaching few clips we shot today,
