Hi,
Is there any location in Trivandrum or near Trivandrum to fly RC planes?
thanks,
siddhu
There is some place near Pangode, but access seems to be by invitation.
I have been searching for a ground too. we need to group up resources to find a nice place to fly.
I have asked our member Mr Vinod Madhavan ("madhavan") to pitch in if he knows any flying locations (other than the one at Pangode).
I was flying at Mar Ivanios College ground Nalanchira few months back. But only electric. I am still looking out for a proper place for Nitro or Gas. Pangode Ground belongs to Indian Army, so it’s not easy to get permission.
Hey, do v need any permission to fly planes at Mar Ivanios College ground
I just spoke to the guard at the gate.
Hello Friends,
Here i am Listing few grounds which i think we can do flying in Trivandrum , amoung those CPT is my home ground. i learned rc flying my own there , its not a big ground but its ok with me (surrounded by huge trees ) i shooted the flying of YUMMY CUB in the same ground ,i will be uploading it in forum may be in a day or two.
1. Pangode Army Ground ( permission Required from PRO ,it will be granted only when the ground is free )
2. Sports school karyvattom near technopark ( permission Required from Principal only sundays are allowed )
3. Sports school Mylam 9 kms from city ( good for flying in early morning after that cricket guys will rule the ground )
4.CPT Vattiyoorkavu( open ground early morning local guys play cricket after 9 am it is free till 4 pm . )
i flew many times in the above mentioned grounds,, some are really good ,
Can you give me an idea about CPT Ground including direction? Is it good for nitro or Just Electric ?? I believe its thickly populated area as well ??

Nice iniciative siddhu  (he is actually my friend ;D). Thanks madavan for the info. it would be more help if you can fix google map pic like the one i have attached. This place is sufficient for heli flyers but not for those who use planes.

You should post links like the ones here :)

Will definitely do that once i personally visit these places, get some idea & do atleast one flying in these places :). wish members from trivandrum can give some more spots which are easily accesible & least populated.

Thanks Madhavan  .I believe its on the way to Aruvikkara ?.
Hai guys I am working at technopark now... If you guys are visiting pleas let me know...
CPT grounds are really big. One can comfortably fly electric planes. It should also be able to handle nitro or gas. Also there wont be much of a authorization trouble as in grounds at pangode. But vattiyoorkavu seems to be far for city dwellers.
I got this reply for my private message to 'Trivandrum Aeromodeling'
"you can fly vettikuzhi near pappnomcode. no need to tke permissions."
Couldn't find this place. Anybody have any idea?
You should ask them for clarification. The response would be useful to a lot of people around TVM.

I found this on the web, not quite sure where it is. May be Madhavan can help, or if time permits, myself on next Sunday when I reach TVM.
I found the direction in google maps, but I cant paste the link. Please search for pappanamcode in google maps.
Its between pappanamcode industrial estate and Maakulam road.
Please post the latitude and longitude. People can just put them separated by commas on Google Maps, and jump directly to it.
I will do that
+8° 28' 24.84", +76° 59' 11.33"
Go to Google maps, paste the above coordinates in the search tab, it will take you to the location of the ground.
[Admin Note] Here is the direct link on Google Maps (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=%2B8%C2%B0+28'+24.84%22,+%2B76%C2%B0+59'+11.33%22&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=50.51141,115.839844&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=17)
:) I already sent a pm to them but there was no reply that's why posted here for help. Thanks Manoj, nice work {:)}.
Attaching the snap of the location manoj specified
I went to INCP ground in kariyavottom today. It seems that i need permission to fly there.
Were you stopped by someone ?
Yes, the security at the gate :(. Can someone help to get permission there?.
Does St. Xavier's College have a ground?
I went to kazhakuttom beach & flew there my new build plane. The wind speed is too high & i wasn't able to fly.
Atlast one small hope. I flied my AXN floater in st. Xavier college ground last week. The ground wasn't big enough but i managed to fly there. It has a foot ball ground. I just spoke with the watch man & flied there, yet to get permission from the management. Best place for heli fliers. The wind was also too high since it is close to the beach.
search in google map with the following
Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala (St. Xavier's College Auditorium)
my name is sibi from attingal there is big ground near attingal my no 09895513773,09633000700
Please give a landmark or the location of the ground here. Is this a common ground or a ground belonging to school or college?
If this CAN be a regular ground, then we should make a proper Google Map, and add it to the list here :

I went to this place. Its not a ground it is just a small place. It cant be used.
Its the football ground of Mar Ivanious college. Did you reached the correct place?. You have to drive uphill and on your left hand side you will find the ground. form the google map itself you can see the huge open field.
I am not talking about the Mar Ivanious college ground. I am talking about the ground you have mentioned in reply#28 & anwar has given a link in it. Me, Sibi & sreedhar went there. Ya we went to the exact spot(I had a map printed). It is very small not a ground at all. I also went to the ground which sibi was pointing out. It was a very nice ground big enough for electric(not for nitro's) & least populated.
That one, you found from TVM Aero modeling and(# 22) and I only found the location/direction on Google maps. I have never been to that ground personally.
Ya manoj I am not blaming anybody I am just striking it out from the list of grounds cos it of no use.
Between here is the Attingal Ground (http://maps.google.co.in/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Sreepadam+Stadium,+Attingal+%E2%80%93+Nedumangad+Rd,+Attingal,+Kerala&aq=&sll=21.125498,81.914063&sspn=29.47036,52.119141&ie=UTF8&hq=Sreepadam+Stadium,&hnear=Attingal+%E2%80%93+Nedumangad+Rd,+Attingal,+Thiruvananthapuram,+Kerala&t=h&z=15&cid=12263709439119360735&iwloc=A) Link
Sorry if I sound rude. I am happy that you are doing the rounds on all the fields and giving updates. Keep up the good work {:)} .
How far is this attingal ground from city/PTP Nagar ?
