Hopefully many of the RC folks in Kerala can come and participate in this meet.

FlyJoe

Joe here from Tvla.
Sunil, on a forum like this with the experienced flyers from all over, you'll be able to get any and all help. With the openness here you can be assured of help.
Its better to Crash while Learning on a sim rather than Learn from Crashing on the field

Some many keralites into rc but many rc NRIs :'( :'(

anwar

That is OK, people who travel get introduced to stuff easier (although the online/connected world of today makes it much of a moot point).  Resources is another issue, in this hobby.

With a platform like RC India, I can't see why 2 or 3 people in places like Kochi can meet and fly at the same place every week, and start doing a bit of evangelism (especially in schools/colleges).  When people realize there is routine flying at any place, they will join in, and the numbers will grow to become a good size club.

It is amazing what distances people travel just to see RC stuff.  Once we had a few people travel from Wayanad to Kottayam, just to see this in action.  People just don't know where flying happens routinely.

So far in Kerala, I know Irinjalakkuda is the only place where that happens routinely, and that too because of the lone enthusiast, Santhosh bhai !

You know Anwar bhai i think I am the only one at alleppey aware of RC.... I have heard people talking at my back while i was flying that " Is he mad, at this age acting like kids" such stuffs,, its really discouraging.... but now i am used to it....

true anwar, but that too with the support from our crew members(kannan, nazar, shaji ...............:)

anwar

Yes, you have a great group of support people, who also show up again and again to the field, even though they have not started in this.  Kannan helps build and launch stuff, but others are pure spectators.

@Sreedhar - This is a common reaction, I also used to get it.  Now I talk about some of the amazing people (really really influential people here in Qatar) that I have met through this hobby, and people see the value :)

I really don't expect them to understand the passion/fun aspects of it, at least they realize the social value of it!  Most people tend to agree that it is a more constructive outlet (and hence positive energy), as compared to many other common alternatives :giggle:

Anwar sir, there was a flying ground behind my home in Kochi but now, a residential complex in progress :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: . I had heard of people flying at Maharaja's college ground earlier, I went there two three Sunday mornings and didn't find any. I welcomes all at Kochi to meet and build a RC Flying club {:)} {:)}.

anwar

Did not know about Maharaja's except possibly for the NCC folks.  It is in the middle of the city, not sure it would be a good choice.

Will try to catch up when I am back home :)

I agree with that.....and I don't have much courage to fly at there, in the middle of the city :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: will look for a better place

Sreedhar

RC club  kerala.. hmmmm gud idea...

bmanoj2

I remember nice huge open space when you drve beyond kakkanadu towards ambalamugal side ? There was a toll gate too. I went there may be 17 years back. no idea how it changed now
"Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow."

Sreedhar

now it might have become infopark or any huge commercial building...
Open space at kakkanad.. now very difficult to find...

bmanoj2

hahahaha true, But the area I refered is approx 5 to 8 km beyond kakkanadu. I am not sure if this is the famous Sea prot airport road ?
"Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow."

anwar

There were somewhat open spaces on the seaport-airport road, as of a few months ago.  But the other road that goes near Veegaland and the one that goes into InfoPark and beyond are both built up on both sides.

The simplest option is the local school grounds, if you can get the school authorities to let you use them.
