gusty sir guess the inputs at 1:42??
wanted to wait for gusty sir but could not hold my horses...!
as long as my understanding goes.
thats a "inverted snap to hover" maneuver
come in inverted--> ele stick up--> rud stick right--> aliron stick right--> corrections to proper hover ...
correct me if wrong :salute:
u are kinda right and kinda wrong.. snap is always done with same side aileron and rudder.. but when u are inverted this ... so it sticks opposite side rudder and ailerons.. BUT this particular maneuver is done with the input u have written up there.. only change u need to make is .. u need to release ailerons early here.. and delay rudder and elevator.. and u then ofcourse correction for hover.. nice catch mate.. :)
p.s. u need super hugh surfaces and superstrong servos to execute it in real life.. did it last sunday... gusty sir was there too!!
thats what it is called.... check this at 2:05... this is normal one. and above is inverted...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KF1_yrc2tho
PS: wanted to be there in blore last sunday... gusty sir had called... but again..exams.. :banghead: lucky i get a 15day gap for madras..
PSS: tried it on sim just now... comes good except for the recovery part(for me, and thats the main part :-\) i am still stuck with rolling harriers. :banghead:
yes u got it right.. but his isnt that neat.. u can do much better if u release ailerons on time..
its a very classy entry for torque rolls.. good luck with harrier rolls.. it will take time.. be patient.. n try to break down the maneuver to better understand it..
Great video. Again, I wonder about the dead reliability of the engines & fuel delivery systems; what do they use?
I've managed some of those moves but I don't call it 3D flying. Instead my video is called 3D crashing ;)
crash in sim and ace it on field.. :)
'Snap to Hover' (Inverted or otherwise) looks great whne executed well, else looks like recovered outta disaster. Good flight we had on MXSR (Shadman and I) incl Snap to Hover
gusty sir .. that was brilliant flight we had.. amby guys need to see that.. by the way got a hang of snap to torquing..
see this .. never knew this possible.. i think this guy is using gyro.. or sumthing..

watching the recent trend .. people moving towards fpv and quads.. the essence of the aerobatics is being lost... lol.. sour grapes huh!!!
@shadman- I would prefer a 3D plane anyday ;) - maybe because they are the reasons that I was attracted to aeromodelling! The quads have been there for a long time but they cannot steal the spot of the extreme and maniacal 3D planes! ;D
:) .. nice to know there are some passionate ppl here.. rest are busy selling their birds.. lol..
Becoming proficient at 3D flying (planes or helis) takes significant focus, time, effort/discipline and MONEY (especially in the case of helis!) :)
People lack one or two of these, that keeps 99.9% out !
+1 to shadman & anwar bhai
@anwar bhai.. why heli flyers always feel superior to log flyer (thats what they call planes.. LOG) serious racism.. lol.... .. i feel planes require equal concentration .. especially when it comes to neat 3d routines..
I meant heli folks spend a lot more money than airplane folks in perfecting their art. The reason is that you can become fairly good at 3D moves using a "flat out" foamie, but it is hard (if not impossible) to do the same with a really small heli. And with larger helis, comes major crash costs.
And if you are not crashing, you are doing something wrong :giggle:

And if you are not crashing, you are doing something wrong :giggle:
Or you're doing it absolutely perfectly ;)
haha +1 anwar bhai and fyi planes are not called logs they are called planks lol by heli fliers ...yes am not saying there is no effort in 3d flying regarding planes but it is propelled in one direction which become manageable to control and back out of a maneuver in case things go bad ...helis behave like like intoxicated ppl if u try to correct in one direction they fall the other way there is no constant direction to them if u know what am trying to say ;D lol
laws of aerodynamics helis cannot fly, ---- gliding characteristics a favor to planes :)
+1 divyam..
@anwar bhai.. honestly i never crashed a plane while maneuvering .. i had couple of unexpected dead sticks on nitro stupid birds..thats why i moved to electric and gas.. may be u learned the hard way .. doing it right .. lol.. :P .. btw planes are equally expensive like heli's..
helis are scary.. i love heli 3d ... but i love myself more.. thats why i m out of it.. ;)
do u remember this incident..
I never really tried airplane 3D at all, except for hovering. And that was easy to do, with all the heli hours behind me.
I did try to seriously get into heli 3D, but then found other interests calling, including the fact that I started enjoying training others and troubleshooting others' planes/helis much better than fixing my own crashed helis ;D So heli 3D was put in a back burner couple of years ago.
I am cautious... but not scared of helis :)

great shadman! you could afford to move cg back a lil more, low speed translation to hover will be smoother
@shadman_alam
See last screen. It says:
To get down to the deck you need balls of carbon fibre.
Honest. It says that!
giggle it off.. its just humour.. to get it down to the deck, u need to burn a lot of gas ...
