Title: Airfix model kits
Post by: VC on July 01, 2013, 11:49:36 AM
I am completely taken aback after reading this article. Having made these models since 1976, I wasn't aware that they were manufactured in India. The tragedy is that in spite of them being produced here, we have to pay exorbitant amounts (double or triple the listed prices) to procure them. This is India.

Hi VC

Can you list sources for these kits in India apart from ebay?

I have drawn a COMPLETE blank on the net. I don't think the manufacturers are allowed to advertise this fact. However, there are many retailers who sell these kits at 'special' prices. You will have to hunt them down. There is one in New Del. Just google 'oldest toy shop in India' and you will find them.

Coincidentally, I was just speaking with Dr. Ravi Joshi the owner of the Model Railway Museum in Pune:

Precisely my reaction. Here in Kolkata you get them in India's Hobby Centre and of late I've just seen them in Starmark. Indeed, it's a pity you have to hunt for the kits. The English have access to rows and rows of them boxes :/
