getfpv.com is one of the oldest and largest stores in the US. I have ordered stuff from them once but got it delivered in the US and brought the parts back with me on person. I highly doubt if anyone ordered from there right to their home in India.
Just my two cent!

Hi I made a big mistake of purchasing from getfpv.com without knowing the import duties/taxes. I got a DJI fpv flight controller, this was the cost breakup
-Cost of Controller : $299 (21383)
-DHL express : $40 (Rs 2861)

I was quite ok with this but just before delivery I got a message from DHL asking me to pay  Rs 11,670 ($160) bucks as import tax the import tax consists of the following components
- Import tax (10% of the total shipment value : Rs 2800)
- IGST (28%, yes freaking 28% for electronics : Rs 8200)
- DHL express import chargers (10 % of import tax : Rs 520)

Total Cost : Rs 36-37k for a product which is Rs 21k

I felt so bad for having to pay an additional 11k ($160), I checked with getfpv.com but they do not have any say in this and is mentioned in their website
https://www.getfpv.com/shipping.html -> Make sure you review our Terms and Conditions with important details relating to shipping.

5.6 Customs, Duties, and "Return to Sender" Packages

For orders shipped outside the USA, you are solely responsible for any and all import duties your local customs office may impose on your order. If a package is returned to GetFPV due to the Mail Carrier's inability to collect customs duties or deliver the package to your provided ship-to address, GetFPV will not refund a) shipping costs from GetFPV to your location and b) the cost of returning the package back to GetFPV, when and if the package is returned to GetFPV. In the event that a package can not be delivered due to the issues listed in this paragraph and the overall value of your order is less than the cost of returning the package back to GetFPV, GetFPV may elect to 'abandon' the package. If your package is abandoned, you will not receive a refund.

So If you want to get something, I would suggest you to ask a friend to bring it from the US, again remember it cannot be a ready to fly drone, it can be a dji fpv air unit cause the product alone does not fall under the drone category. Hope this information is usefull

Was this your first time importing something? Duties are applicable on all imports, and its getting expensive day by day. You're lucky this was classified under electronics and not Hobby parts/toys (depends on HS Code used). I ordered a bunch of parts from HK in Jan this year and ended up paying close to 78% in import duty.

Duties aside GetFPV is very much reliable. Had ordered some stuff to a US address and it reached safely and in time.

I think you are lucky to get your product. Is this your first experience on burning and getting a deep hole on your wallet because of the customs? Because this kind of custom duties have become normal from 2020. After Corona period, I will say things have only gotten worse. I never recommend DHL to anyone (atleast hereafter). Recently i had 2 bad experiences in 1 week.

1. First one is for 16000 customs duties for a 14000 worth products. Products are not at all that much electronics either. Just some camera mounts, 4 vintage lenses and 1 xm+ receiver. In my 4 years of experience, this is the worst unmatching customs fee i ever paid.

2. This one direct answer to the current thread. Like 1 user already quoted above, i bought in the way like this:

Purchased from getfpv.com ---> US warehouse ---> Ship to India

from getfpv.com i purchased 6 items. Total worth just 3000rs 2 antennas, 1 ethix prop tool and 2 props set.
And some more purchases from ebay which are camera mounts. All together were shipped to India. Once again customs gave me bad experience. but this time they punished me even more. Atleast last time they paid high tax of 16000. But this time they clearly said they cannot release the products as they are restricted items. (The main problem came as products from getfpv.com is mentioned in description as RC Toy)

I tried my level best to explain as much in clever way. I even said its not even a drone part. just a wireless video reciever can also be used in routers.
But he said no no. its mentioned in description as drone part. so you will not able to receive this item.
Then later i angrily asked him all airplane has tires. my bike has tires too. so will you say my bike has airplane part? that how you are speaking.
These ba**** didn't give me a sh*t. They clearly said you wont get your product as any flying or moving object is banned from importing.

I went overboard asking then why you didn't mention those in customs website? As long you guys confuse the public with old outdated website, how do we know? whose fault is this? - I got no replies

Lastly i asked him if this is restricted, i even purchased so many products like transmitter and even imported almost 3 full drone parts in 2 years. How i was allowed by that time? He gave me a hint like better stay away from this. otherwise you maybe punished for all your past purchases as well.

Well, that's the current reality now. I can give a bonus point saying Bangalore customs are the most worst in working against public. Other Airport seems much better.

All what i purchased was 2 antennas and my 20000 INR worth parcel was ceased by Customs. This is purely stupid. I will definitely make an Youtube video on this topic regarding the foolish ways the Customs deal the general public.

I still believe i will get my products as we live in a great country which appreciates backdoor moves with a broad smile. I will still reveal those things in youtube too. because if custom officers cease a product for country safety, then these same bas**** selling in backdoor for their personal benefits. So where is the honesty? where is the patriotism?
I do not have any respect to the customs officers who take advantage of all their chances to steal from the public.

My best suggestion is not to import anything from any countries atleast for few months. You can try option B through local purchase itself even if it costs you 500 more. I feel thats the best thing to do now. Atleast it would be worth to wait till the India China tensions settle. In Bangood i never paid even 1 rupee as import duties. and also i imported products in bulk with no problems faced anytime. So bangood is a trusty website and we can rely on it once the service comes back to its old state. (Even if we face any import duties we no need to worry if we paid like extra 10 to 30rs to avoid such issues at the time of billing. Will be listed next to insurance.I recommend everyone to pay that tiny money to avoid any head aches in future)

As a bonus news, i also like to add this. A drone academy owner ordered just 4 motors worth 11000 and he paid 7000 for the customs apart from paying 330o for the shipping as well. Why i am saying this because, until last year we used to pay only like 1500 to maximum 3000 for this kind of purchases. now they increased the duties too high. Even though if peoples are willing to import from getfpv.com, i like to add 2 points

1. Inform them not to add as drone part in description. Instead they can add like computer parts or Electrical Conductor with Connectors, Less than 1000V
2. Don't get upset for high custom duties as long as you get your product. Many are loosing their money and product too. If you are not ready to pay high customs duties, then better don't import and look for alternative options. Actually i could see we can buy mostly all the items through dealers with very few differences in money. So have a try!

Conclusion: Getfpv.com is a very good site. But better stay away from all the international sites for importing RC components. If u have no other options but to import, fine. Then you better find a importer (google as customs clearing agent - find in justdial with good customer ratings). Tell him your need. He will help you to buy the item with less import duties. Never ever try to make the purchase individually because something had happened to the customs guys after corona season. Nowadays they are easily adding import duties as 4000 rupees in the place where they earlier used to charge just 1000 or 800. So something is wrong with them!

I placed an order for a HGLRC stack in May and used the DHL shipping option, had to pay almost 80% in taxes. It reached me in 10 days with no other set back
Ordered a whole set of betafpv gear and electronics in September and chose their $15 economy shipping option which came through with no custom duty, but got stuck in Malaysia during their international mail ban and took 45 days to get to me. However I would be wary if you're ordering Rx or an RTF or BNF drone since those have been getting confiscated by customs
