Here is where the "I have an issue with HK" crowd loses it.  I have never felt HK is treating me like a beggar. Why ?  Because I have never gone there for items that I need day after tomorrow.  I know in my mind that it can take 2 to 5 weeks to get anything, and they have never lost any package of mine, never messed up items, and I get good value for money.
...
...
Tower works out because of their 20% to 25% offers.  Otherwise I have seen their prices are similar to LHS prices, including HobbyTown where I have shopped multiple times.  In particular, radios and sims were priced the exact same at HobbyTown, as compared to Tower.

I share EXACTLY the same opinion! We all know HK prices are good and some of thier items are decent enough to be used. It would be wise to order only those items which are decent, rather than ordering some bad reviewed item and comparing them to US based expensive items.

Also as Anwar says, order items before a month. No offence but loosing temper/shouting at them would not change anything. When we know they ship late, its better to order early and keep the cool rather than order late and curse them.

@Ujjwal, am not an HK agent ;)

Oh and by the way Almonds are expensive and Peanuts are cheap, in other words buy and use what you want to, rather than buying peanuts and expecting them to taste like almonds.

 :)
the only thing i hate about hk is their habit of taking longer times, now they have made it a habit hard to break, so if such uprising takes place on all forums around the world then maybe they would want to change their plans  ;)

I paid (using paypal) on 12/2 but my order was not shipped until 20/2. And then HK Post showed me some some stars.. I had to call their mail tracing office and other offices in HongKong (only to receive an automated reply!) and finally it arrived in Mumbai FPO this 17th.. More than a month...

raja_mastana

dhaksha, It should be 2/3 days i think.
hyd_quads, those were really bad days (my 2/8 order was shipped on 2/24 and reached on 3/9), but its better now

Yes, those days were really bad.... those guys celebrate the chinese new year for so many days that it affects almost all chinese things. You have to live sans orders, sans mail.... :(

dhaksha, I have 50 orders till date. All had varying shipping times and speeds. Some times airparcels have reached me in 13 days flat after ordering (no kidding), and some days as long as 33 days. It all depends on their workloads and how much they are willing to hire more people and seasons in countries like US/UK and Australia. I do agree they need to hire more people, telling that they have received high orders is no reason.

dhaksha_dx

50 orders wow!
i ve made only 5 orders,
thats 1/10th of vinays,
and btw where do u stay in bangalore vinay

yaar , can ayone buy stuff from HK for me i dont hv debit , visa , back account and the local hobby shop sites are toooo pricy , nearly 4 times more of HK :)

vishwasvm

For me it is taking more time at customs than at HK. My latest order was on 14th March which arrived in India on 19th. Since then I am waiting it to be released by customs.

BTW, why it has to be released three times by the customs?? This happened with earlier order too....

japan , arrived at customs he is still waiting for , no notification nothing

vishwasvm

In my case, there is a notification that the parcel has been released on 19th and 22nd.

You are openly discussing/declaring your intention to break import laws. Not sure where the confidence is coming from that law enforcement (including customs) personnel are not watching this thread ?

I know for sure in Kerala, customs folks are convinced that anything coming from HobbyKing are by default undervalued. People are now being asked to provide credit card statements before parcels are being released.

Such open discussions would cause more problems even to people who declare true values on invoices.
