If you have declared 30% of $155 then there should not be any custom duty.

I JUST got a letter from Bangalore Customs.
Its simple, they are telling me to show them the invoice of the item.
I'll do it ASAP.

As per IPS tracking it is showing with Mumbai Customs only..... strange

guys, they are asking me to submit 3 things...

1)Invoice / Bill/ Receipt  

2)Brochure / Product Details / Technical writeup  

3) Import Export Code Certificate / Import Licence / Duty Exemption documents  


I can submit #1 and #2...BUT, I HAVE NO IDEA what #3 is....  !!

Please help  

Never heard a complaint like tat still but one person received a wrong tail boom of a heli..

Is it necessary to get a import licence for the personal use also?

The IEC Code # is NOT required if you have bought/shipped it in your personal name.  Neither are you claiming duty exemption . Submit the first 2 docs. along with a letter explaining why the third is not applicable.

$45 for a package so big and as many items!! This is the reason Customs sent you a Memo. Never take them for fools. If you try to over do the under invoicing, its trouble again. Now you cannot say it is $155. and then justifying $45 for so many items is again very tricky. The worst part is it contains a Radio!! The guys at Bangalore customs very well now what it is. You have to describe every item now in your declaration. including the Radio.
If you are a student, carry your college ID and try to convince saying it is for academic project.

GOOD NEWS

I have cleared my item from customs without any hassels. The Superintendent of Customs PAD:Bangalore was a very nice and approachable man

The Superintendent also told me that I would receive the item within 4 business days.

I will definitely post pics when I receive it.
