I would try to buy ONLY from RCBazaar or RCDhamaka. These are the most reliable LHS at present, as far as I have found, and their stock is also good. If I dont find the item in these two or the price is high, then I would buy from HobbyKing  :giggle:

That good if possible we should always try to but from lhs if not then hobbyking is there :)

I ordered an ESC from HobbyKing and the item was shipped on 18/10/2013. It's shipped through Singapore post (registered), I am trying to track the parcel from since I got the tracking ID, but it never was successful. The Singapore Post website is a joke, it keeps showing errors.
It's been close to a month now and I don't know if it's normal that it takes this long or if the parcel is held by the customs department, if that's a possibility. The HobbyKing CS guys aren't helping much either.

Any suggestions?

I might be ordering in a couple of days. But I live in Varanasi, and no idea if Indian courier services will agree to ship batteries. see here: http://www.rcindia.org/beginners-zone/hobbyking-and-custom-charges

I received my stuffs from HobbyKing yesterday. Here is the detail:

Order details

Ordered some stuffs costing $100+ contained radio and LiPo plus weighs 2000+gms, so, the only option that HK gave me to ship was FedEx Priority. It added $50 to the the cost. At exchange rate ~ Rs65/USD I paid close to 10K. The items got delivered in 7-8 days. This splits into 3 days for JIT item and 4 days for shipping.

Packaging and Shipment

The packaging was really poorly done. FlipKart does a better job. Amazon probably packages the best. Anyway. The packaging was lousy but FedEx shipped it very carefully.

Custom and Excise duty

FedEx got it cleared from custom. It costed me another Rs. 3200. I will give more detail on custom on the "Held at destination by custom" thread (http://www.rcindia.org/rc-general-topics/need-help-with-customs/msg161150/#msg161150).

Lessons Learnt

1. Always pay using Paypal
2. The custom duty is on the total amount. It is not on the worth of the stuffs but it includes shipping too. For me it was ~30% but it was calculated on $150 while the stuffs in the shipment worth was only $100.
3. FedEx is a fast and safe way to ship stuffs.
4. If you have someone who has Gold (3rd or more time buyer from HK) membership or platinum (10th onward buyer) membership, use them. They get to tweak the custom statement. If done rightly you may save some loose change.
5. Use BuddyCode on the most expensive stuff in the cart.

BTW, why on earth do we have 200KB/attachment limit. Images with good resolution generally cross 1MB border.

Hello everyone.

I have a very small doubt.

I am ordering from HobbyKing for the first time, it's just some small stuff I need.
The total cost of the order is $21.88 ( ~Rs.1400 ) including shipping, plus weighs just 124g.

I am planning to use International Registered Air Mail.

I wanted to know that would such a small order result in any kind of customs problems, because I wouldn't be able to handle those. Plus, any insight on the shipping time?
I am ordering to Delhi.

Thank You.
