Hey guys, thinking of ordering some electronics through HK. 7 cooling fans, a heatsink and temp gauge. Total value is about $33 and $10 shipping (~450g) through International Registered Airmail. Will it get through customs without hassles? Please advice.

I've read about many success stories with HK but mostly from 2010-2011 (starting of the thread). So I'm just checking to see if situation has changed. I live near Mumbai if that helps

Just placed an order ($29 value) and 400g weight. Made the payment three hours ago and haven't received any confirmation mail yet. I've read that it takes time, but I'm starting to worry a bit since it's my first order.

I chose International Airmail (Registered).

same think happened to me I contacted the chat support. they told me that their accounts department will confirm only when they see my credit or debit card pic. with only last 4 digit visible. I wiped off the numbers n attached the same to the chat. then only they released my order

Had some issues with them (I used my name but someone else's credit card) and after providing proof and all, my order is finally ready for shipment! Woohoo, can't wait!

My order got shipped! 19 hours after payment and 13 hours after processing. If they would've processed it right away, it may've shipped within 2-3 hours of payment.

Tracking no. is RC002578012MY where to track? They ship through Fiji post, Swiss post & Hong Kong post so I'm unsure of the tracking. I know the Indian govt tracking website but right now it's in Hong Kong, help please

If you're lucky you can get it through registered airmail even without any duty! Although that is only 10-20% cases from what I've read on this forum.

Safer option might be FedEx/DHL/UPS. But there will exorbitant duty.

Best option is to get it through LHS. Others can provide links or just google the radio (with 'India'). It'll be safest and cheapest if available.

4 days (2 of them holidays so it's kinda okay) and the POS Malaysia haven't shipped the order (POS indeed ). So when they say they've shipped the order they mean it's been submitted to the parcel company which takes light years to ACTUALLY ship it.    

Btw Happy Holi everyone! On the other hand I'm worried now that this will cause delays @customs. I've placed another order with TowerHobbies ($62 shipped on 6th March) but w/out tracking. I'm out of station right now. How to know if the postman came to my door but was unable to deliver? Also, how do I enquire about the status of the package (at local post office); should I give them my invoice number?

Has anyone tried ordering from Amazon or eBay  ( global ), shipping costs to India seem to be ok (~ $15 - 25) for UPS/DHL/FedEx . But no info about custom charges is provided. 

For Amazon, customs duty is prepaid

Doesn't look like its detained - all items, even envelops have to go through customs verification
if it doesn't clear in the next few days, then it means parcel is not cleared in first round.
Second round verification takes place in a week or two

I backtracked the thread and saw another person who got stuff shipped through POS Malaysia, been 3 weeks for him (at customs) and no sign of progress. So I got worried. Fingers crossed.   Btw, I had requested them to attach the invoice on the package and I just confirmed with them -- and they have attached the invoice on the parcel.
