go ahead customs dont trouble for these items..!

they dont interfere as long as your package is priced less than 4-5k and does not weight more than 750-1000 grams. sometimes if it contains Tx then u have to think about it..!

Some days back i had order some props. from hobby king, and parcel through default registered air mail option. To my horror the parcel reached me in such a bad shape like something has exploded inside it. Bellows are snaps. I believe this is just one of incident as my previous parcels from HK was very perfect.

Had not checked props for any cracks but seems ok superficially.

After getting into the, now i am sure package must have been open by BLR custom check as the paper news for repacking is some Bangalore daily, :)
And major cause for custom check i can think of is because of my own mistake. Actually this time i choose all default options provided at hobby king. And in this way my parcel was just holding total declaration of $12 for box of 750 grams. So lesson learnt is to aware of custom declaration also. Anyhow i always doubt the legality of % declaration on sites (though i only found it on HK so far)

Seems your package was battered in the rains... except EMS, all packages  get same treatment. Some how small packages in 'Envelope' have the best Turnaround time, come intact, and attract no customs.

Lately Indian post is receiving just too much of posts and there is a gross mishandling of packages. I have never received any packages from Swiss post, which takes Delhi IMC route, which was free from dent. Mumbai route used to be better and I still use the old HK boxes to store my items as they used to reach in near pristine condition.

Sir, I have never seen any foreign parcel packed with twine. Only our Indian post use that thing for packing so there is no doubt ur package was very much mishandled by customwallahs. I hope u will take up the matter with postal officials and ask them to cover damages.

With the package changing so many hands, you cannot point only to customs. I have seen gross mishandling right from the Airport cargo chaps till even the FPO before it is handed over to PAD (Customs). Infact customs usually visits the FPO holdup area and official inspect the package there. Customs have to use thread to re-pack such battered parcel and put a 'Lakh' seal (the brittle black/Red sealing putty) on the inspected item.
Such mishandling is not unique to India alone. Read RCG threads and flyer all over the world face similar issues.

+1 to Unjwaana.
Personally, has anyone seen the way the airline loaders load and unload luggage. Its actually a miracle that our bags reach in one piece.

however, this could be a custom issue, if they open up the package for inspection, they usually tie it up with a jute cord.

Last week I have received the Bixler Kit from Hobby King. Th Package is in such horrible state, i thought the Kit is goen for toss. But after checking everything is intact, thanks to EPO foam.

As mentioned by "ujjwaana" it is having Lakh seal, seems this was opend at Mumbai Customs.

The MISHANDLING starts right from parcel landing in India. I was not blaming customs only but the whole circus (including the postal clowns). Check your parcel at the airport when it reaches India and after that. And yeah the whole responsibility for safety of package lies on customs guys because its them who get to open your precious parcel without any concern.  But most of the people including me are so eager to receive any parcel containing RC items that we dont give it a second thought and accept damaged parcel. We should return them and take a pic so we can claim it from the seller. Also It might not be unique to India but I live in India so concerned about Indian service only. I will read RCG and their grievances If i ever want to live in USA.

are you sure that if we don't accept the damaged package then the postal guys will send it back to the seller? and we'll get the refund?

i wonder if india has advanced 1 thousand years since i slept last!

There was no lakh seal on this package; this is my only concern, as there is no liability on quality of delivery. It was just lump of paper wrap around things inside. This time it was just props. which just held with each but if it was package containing something like motors then definitely they could popped out. And even if they had opened for custom (still wonder what they had used to open it), they are so dumb that they tear out from side bearing address detail and scraped my contact number. When i had asked delivery person about undertaking about the loss of any content, he say post office received in this state and they had mentioned on back side. I think it was not good idea to decline the packet as what bother them to lose a packet.

They have to sign the parcel stating that they received it in damaged condition. they do sign it even in cases where they damage the parcel themselves to escape from any insurance claim. but if u reject the item and get the proof of it by taking a picture or get it in writing by postman then u can always go with ur case to seller. u can also file a claim with paypal if paid with it.
