I just give a visit to "India Hobby Centre" Mumbai today and I was surprised to find that almost all their items are very expensive, I ask them for a Battery switch and a receiver battery holder (a rectangular  plastic box where you put Rx batteries) I dont believe what I was hearing Rs.450/- EACH.

their cheapest Items are all Rs.450/- nothing below Rs.450/- , How can they do this to me ??

If anyone of you guys from Mumbai, Please do something. Anyway is that the only RC Plane shop you have in Mumbai ? (Well according to them, yes) ???

Have you seen our mega list ?

http://www.rcindia.org/rc-outlets-and-resellers/mega-list-of-all-rc-outlets-in-india/

RC stores in India are disadvantaged by default due to the government levies (it is a case similar to that of petroleum products).  The low turnover is another aspect, so they are forced to put higher margins (and extract more out of the low number of customers).

Overall, this is a chicken and egg problem  :(  Unless there are enough customers, the prices will not come down significantly, and unless the prices come down, there won't be a significant number of customers.

But things are moving in the right direction.  A nitro high-wing beginner combo was around 20K as listed in this forum about 6 months back, now we have beginner combo for 12K.  On the electric scene, things are even brighter.

So hang in there...

It may make sense for you to order online, and there are many such options in India itself now.

I hav been buying spare and supplies on and off from India hobby center in mumbai. It surely is expensive but they have had their problems i guess, the shop has got smaller in size and was relocated few yrs back.....I do admire the efforts they took in keeping it up and running..... i personally prefer shipping parts from Hong kong (cheaper), but sometimes its too painful to wait that long...also the guys at India Hobby Center  were the only people I knew when i started off... and car scene being  weak compared to airplanes (i think) i had no option but them...they were trying to work out some dealership in mumbai with Kyosho, looks like it did not work out...I haven't been there for almost a year now.
Kyosho PureTen Alpha GP
Tamiya TT-01E (full hop ups and BL system)
Kyosho Mini Inferno
Kyosho MiniZ MR-02
Jammin SCRT-10
