Everybody knows Hoby King Ethics. They sell cheap. But their Customer Service Ethics are even Cheaper.

Fanboys! Yes they Sell Cheap, but there are others too! And they cannot take people for ride just for this reason.

Anyone who knows there is NO Santa, must know how Hobby King marks your order "Shipped" ? - By just generating a Tracking Number using various Shipper's online portal. They don't essentially hand over or even physically ship out (like 'One the way') to the Postal offices. Now this is used as Lolly Pop, or 'Fortune Cookies' to put the buyers in Fools Paradise, while HK uses this long 'Expected Transit Time' for its own purpose to gather your items situated in small islands across China (or even OEM's factory) and then actually hand it over to Postal Office. In this way, they get 5-10 days of 'Lee Way' . But how about Hobby King sitting over your order which they have marked "Shipped" over a month, time in which the item should have reached you ? They will point fingers at the various country's postal Departments instead of accepting they are playing truant.

This is exactly what happened with me. I placed an order on 02/05/2015 and in just one day HK changed my order status to "Shipped". I did not expect the Tracking number to show up in Singa Post site soon, but when even after 2-3 weeks there was no trace, I contacted the Customer support. Same old kids Bed Time stories "We understand sir!! We have actually sent it ... there must be some technical problem with Posts... blah blah" .... And this time I can actually prove that Hobby King is a bunch of Habitual Liars. See my Order Status Marked Shipped on 02/05, while SG post site said it did not even received the item till 03/01. In the mean while HK Bluff Masters says that they indeed shipped out on 02/05, and finally Singa Post officials duly confirming that till date, 03/03, they have NOT received the package at all.

My only appeal to RC people is that, be ruthless to Hobby King. File a Paypal dispute soon as you smell the rat. Make them pay for their bluff and deceit.

I don't know why HK does this with customers using Intn'l Shipping or Registrd Air Mail :banghead:....i never had problems when i chose Fedex Priority but their charges have become exorbitant :banghead:...guess HK is taking some commission on using Fedex Shipping ???

Himadri Roy : Indeed HobbyKing makes money out of shipping we pay to them. If you go to HK/SG/China Post site and look for tariff, the rates are lower for even individual customers from what HK charges us. Now add the bull/Corporate customer discount Hobbyking would be getting. I estimate they save anything from 20-40% on shipping they charge us.

Dragon, I have got official word from Singapost that they have not received the physical item yet. Looking for Tracking No in these global/Aggregator sites wont help.

Sahil. I am waiting for full one month to complete. I would surely open the case with paypal.

This post was to make people know their rights and take pro active steps at the right time

Ujjwana you seem to have a valid grouse.

Yet, when HK ship out from Hong Kong, it takes 1 - 2 weeks for the parcel to be reach and shipped out from Singapore.

This February 19th was Chinese New Year, a festival where everything stops working for about 2 weeks and the slowdown starts a week before.

Many Hobby Shops make money in shipping - which is why when comparing or evaluating a price, always calculate price+shipping+Customs (if applicable)

I have had 51 orders from HK in the last 2 years. As a general rule I try to keep my parcel below 500 grams - if need be split my order. In these I have had 3 FedEx parcels, wherein I knew I would be paying Duty and Service Charge, which I paid. On the rest, twice I have paid Customs Duty, about 10% of the value.

HK states 45 days from the time they give you the Tracking Number. Just once, when Malaysian Post went crazy after the flight crash and they shipped by Sea Cargo did I experience a delay beyond this period. In that case HK gave me a refund. They also stopped using Malaysian Post.

I have no specific love for HK. But in my opinion they offer:

1. 95% products have very acceptable quality
2. Prices are reasonable
3. A staggering product range
4. Overall good service

I for one always prefer giving my business to an LHS. Unfortunately, as a scratch builder, I rarely get what I want from the LHS: either out of stock, or not in the product range. So I inevitably go to HK and my overall experience has been satisfactory; they will continue to enjoy my custom.
