Why we have to depend on imports ? Let us start making in India and export.
Recently, I came across Multi-rotor Board made in India by RC for all. We should support rc4all and Mr. Venkatesh Sai.

http://www.muav.in/?wpsc-product=my-copter-with-dampner

To support them, I would like to sponsor this product (2 numbers) to multi-rotor builders in RCI forum with a condition that they should make a build thread, configuration steps and review about the board in this forum within four weeks of receipt.

I will choose the two builders based on their involvement, experience, posts in this forum. Builders shall discuss with each other and shall come up with unique review and build as much as possible.

If you are a member of rcgroups forum and has significant posts in that forum, in addition to the board I will sponsor you Motors+ESC+Propellers with added condition that you should make a build thread in rcgroups too.

Reply on this thread if you are interested.

I am all in support of indigenous production, but the product is little odd and out of tune with respect to the products available currently in the market.

*First of all, the size which is 100*100mm which is frankly little large and odd size compared to most of the other boards, its a different thing that we can still work with it. Tuning is through pots which IMHO is a primitive way of tuning. Couldnt find the GUI to see whether tuning is possible through it or through an LCD screen.

*Then comes the complexity, the manual is limited( if I dint miss anything) in terms of instructions specifically from a beginners point of view given the price of the product(which is great  :) ).
ex
-How to upload or change firmware for different configurations? Instructions in the manual are specified for a quad(aside from the tuning part, which should be almost similar)
-How to attach additional sensors(gps/mag/baro),lcd,telemetry etc? and how should firmware be changed or updated accordingly?
Which sensors are supported?
-All my attempts to access http://www.muav.in/resourcecenter have failed, to seek additional info. I did stumble on this link http://www.muav.in/?page_id=23380 but details for the board aint present there. If it was under 'RCFORALL Quadrotor  Assembly" then the video isnt available on youtube :(

I believe a complete manual is very very important specifically if this product is targeted for beginners. Providing personal assistance individually to everyone probably wont be efficient from sellers POV.

These were my inferences when I had seen the original post,I just didnt wanted to be a spoilsport back then  :)

Checked the link - It seems a good work, although, the use of break out boards (arduino mini and mpu6050) could have avoided. I am currently working own, my own flight controller with Atmega 328P+MPU6050.  planning to use multiwii first , later could write my own code.
As I see this board shares the same h/w (mpu6050+328P), Icould use the f/w in my build for testing, Is the owner interested in sharing his code?
PS.  I am currently designing the PCB in the size of std. flight control boards (50x50 mm) in SMD.

Yes , I agree with sidewinder, the flight control board size is non std (which I am trying to rectify in my build).

How a board becomes suitable, for beginners ? well infact at first , every board will be difficult to use, but when users and developers check the board under the hood, the solutions to most problems comes up, and support for the board increases, which makes it easy for even beginners
(That's why I prefer opensource :))

Thanks for your comments. Hope rc4all team notices these comments and do the needful.
