Hi -

I am Anwar from Thrissur, Kerala.  I fly helis most of the time, and really enjoy setting up and tuning/troubleshooting heli issues.  Whenever possible, I also love to help train newcomers using a trainer cord setup.

If you are an RC flier from Kerala, please get in touch with me.

Regards,
Anwar.

That is cool, never knew there is much RC activity going on around Thrissur.  Which college grounds have you been flying at, and with who else from Kerala ?

And most interestingly, are you coming to Kerala only to fly RC, or you are related to Kerala in any way ?  ;)

Subbu, Saju, RotorZone/Rajesh, Ashta.... long list of Mallus living outside Kerala who are into RC  :P

No wonder it is hard to find people who are flying regularly in Kerala now ;D  (Except may be Santhosh!)

Yes, there are a few more mallus I know into RC, but not in Kerala :) And almost all of them are electric (not exclusively) fliers.

santhosh

tnx anwar for that.........

FlyJoe

Anwar, I hope you'll hang out with the aerosports folks at thirssur?
Its better to Crash while Learning on a sim rather than Learn from Crashing on the field

anwar

Nope, didn't get time to seek them out yet.  Also, I was looking for people who fly regularly at one or two places, not just a hobby shop.

If the AeroSports folks fly somewhere regularly, that is great !  Just need for them to let us know where it is.

Hai Anwar:
We, Arun, Srijith and me, are students from Kasargod and Kannur. We are doing B.Tech Mechanical Engg. in TKMCE Quilon.
We are very beginner in this field, we have made one glider but due to ESC problem we are on the way.
It is happy to know that you are from Kerala. We are expecting your valuable advises and suggestions.

anwar

Glad to see more people from Kerala coming into the hobby  :)

Hopefully you can find the right ESC and prop for your glider, and be flying soon

As all beginners should do, I hope you have spent some time on a simulator, to get your basic orientations before trying to fly the glider.

We are all here to assist. Do not hesitate at all to ask for detailed information if we are not being clear enough.

anwar i am from trivandrum, the main problem is a proper place / ground to fly. some guys at calicut told they are starting an aeroclub and they are having some sort of ground. but i am not updated now on them. then this trichur thing is there rc museum etc. still there is no coordinated move in our place for aerosports. any comments.. ?

I think the issues are similar, except in the really big cities (like Bangalore and Chennai) with lots of flyers.  There are not enough RC people who are living close-by to work towards forming a group and securing a field.  But we all find open areas, paddy fields, school/college fields (where we studied earlier) etc on our own, to get by.

On the other hand, when others see someone flying, they also take interest, and probably a group can be built over time.  I definitely see this happening in Cochin, Calicut, Trivandrum and even Thrissur.  A few things need to happen though.

1. Someone with a little bit of influence/contacts in the "institutions" need to take initiative.

2. The hobby has to become a bit more affordable.

3. The initial flyer (or couple of flyers) need to fly at the same place regularly, and make this schedule a bit well known some how (not sure if it is in the "Timeout" section of the "Metro" edition of newspapers etc, but some way of letting others know that this is happening regularly at a fixed location).

There is not much of a point in having ONE RC field in Kerala, where all action happens. It has to be accessible with at most about a 45 minutes drive.

I have heard that people fly at pangode. Also heard that people used to fly some where near akkulam.

harikeshpk

yes i  have flown at pangode 1981 . may be one of the first RC to be flown there. we were regulars with control line there as cadets of 1 kerala air sqn NCC. yes with special permission they may allow. i have not tried even though my house is just about a KM from the place. well i am now working at vellore and flying nearby VIT.

Hay Anwar. I'm from thrissur too. Irinjalakuda to be precise. COmpleted schooling in Bahrain. Was there for about 16 years. Which part are you from?

anwar

I am about 5 kilometers from Guruvayoor.  BTW, one of the most active flyers in Kerala, Santhosh (same username in this forum too) also  hails from Irinjalakuda.  You should hook up when you are back in Irinjalakuda.

hi anwar, our new connections for rc plane is posted on esc selection, my esc burnt. please go through it and correct it if there is any mistake,

anwar

Waited long enough...  got a Trex 700 !

With such deals on a fully-loaded receiver-ready 90 size high performance heli including governor, there was no point in waiting any longer..

http://www.helipross.com/special-cny-pak-align-t-rex-700-nitro-limited-edition-w-regulator4xservosgp78091hmuffler.html

Got the 91H "black head" engine instead of the 91HP, and a Hatori muffler instead of the stock Align one though.

To put it in perspective, the 50 size Trex 600 Nitro was 40% costlier when I got more than a year ago.  So this is a great deal for a 90 size.
