Welcome to RC India.

Mizoram...  Sounds like Kerala, far far away from everything else ;)

Do post some pictures of your flying field and models.  It would be great to see yet another land where RC is taking off !
Hangar : Please see my introduction.

Hey Zonuna,

Welcome to the forum....

Never imagined this hobby could be famous there as well. Just goes on to prove how ignorant I am. But do tell us about your background regarding aeromodelling. Are you into electric or nitro power? Also do tell us what kind of activities you and your friends do there with respect to this hobby?

Hi,

Well I am sure, there will be many people who will take up this hobby around here, the only problem is there were no proper introduction on aeromodelling, no Club, no hobby shop. Most people think that RC modelling is a child's stuff, the reason is nobody really see a real RC Plane flying or do not understand the engineering of aeromodelling.

OK, now since you`ve asked I might as well mention a few line about my history on aeromodelling, and I wish this is not boring.

It all started when I was a little boy,(mid 70's) I saw a picture on a magazine where one man from Bombay ?? (Mumbai) flown an RC Plane, then I got Interested etc.. etc... from then till now.

Early 80's while I was studying in Delhi, I saw a real RC plane with a small Diesel engine, I wandered, wow, when will I have a chance to build and fly those things.

Finally in 1993 I bought myself a .25 ?? Nitro engine with a small balsa bi-plane an 2 channel TX set from Germany (2 channel ??? well the vendor said its fine :violent:I really have NO knowledge then) and the manual is all in German, So back home, I glued and cut those small pieces of balsa including my fingers. So the engine, I tried to start using a normal 1.5V AA battery, and with the Engine in my HAND !!! then flipping the prop. not knowing how fast the rpm was  ;D hmm well I manage to start the engine fitted on the plane 3 -4 times. How long does it fly ? six feet  8-)

I was really hopeless until 1999 I went to Mumbai searching the whole day for hobby shop called "INDIA HOBBY CENTRE" The old man, young guy and a girl was there helping me a lot, BUT the old kind man never let me buy the plane i want, saying its NOT for you !! got myself .40 OS engine and a local made Arora balsa plane/glider.
Back home again I finally got it flying .... well for 5 minutes  8-) then destroy it.  THANK YOU "INDIA HOBBY CENTRE" you got me flying for the first time.

Now thanks to internet (Bazzee/ebay) I can collect every information including Help from all of you in RCINDIA Forum.

I lucky found a friend here at my place who used to be a member at Kolkata Club, together with  another guy who can build a model plan (but don't think we can buy materials on the market like you guys, we use a packing thermocole, bamboo etc. Balsa is far far away from us) so together with my friends, we are on our way to make a big boom on Aeromodelling in Mizoram.

So, please give us your best wishes to teach our people that aeromodelling is not a childish play, its Science.

Hey Zonuna,
good intro....

I had similar experience and was also inducted into this hobby by India Hobby Center of Kolkata when I used to come to Kolkata on holidays. In school we were part of the NCC-AirWing so all we started with were chuck gliders way back in mid 70s

Zonuna,
Forget balsa. Go to rcforall.in and try out the Mr.Moss flyer package. TX, RX and the plane and all accessories and you should be flying (having fun) in a week. Balsa only dampens the spirit as the failure cost is a complete rebuild (for beginners). With the local RC shops, doesn't matter where you are - what you need is just a few clicks away online.

well Zonuna , i guess your wish is answered, we will atleast start with a bang, let me see if we can get RcDhamaka and Rcbazaar Mr sai and other to get to come there and setup a stall. what you think coud be the sale value for them (If they  are going to invest coming all the way their)

we (sandy and I) can get some depron cut fighters gifts for you guys,
Gusty's Hangar and Introduction.

A Good pilot will practice until he gets it right,
A Great pilot will practice until he can't get it wrong.

Thanks , it would be nice to have an RC shop here, most of Mizo guys (kind of technical ) are keen on flying an RC plane but don`t know how to begin.
