SanamMarik

Hello everyone, I am Sanam Marik and I live near to Kolkata(20 KMs from the city). Presently, I am working as a Business Analyst at a MNC in the city's IT Sector for around last 5years.

Now coming to the hobbies, getting into RC is new to me however I always dreamed to be a aeronautical Engineer in my school days which didnt quite take shape and I went on with what I was known of...application programmer. from class I to class V, every day I watched dozens of planes, choppers, helicopters taking off and touching down very closely(200m) as I studied in Indian Air Force Private School till class V which as situated at the runway boundary. When I was in class III , we(school students) had the privilege to look into the cockpits of the Army Cargo Planes and Choppers, but because of my age, that wasnt anything other than a window and dark boxes and lots of little switches. :(

I 1st wanted to have a RC plane when I saw a model aircraft at Birla Children Museum at the age of 6 or 7, but I knew that was not possible. Again when I was in class 9, in KV, we (school students) went on a Visit for Birla Science Museum and Saw a helicopter in action and it was not a electric one as I can still remember the refraction of light happening due to the engine's heated exhaust and it was clear(not dark smoke or anything like dat).

After school I went on in the S/W path and got the job right after Grad from WBUT. Did Mtech from BITS, Pilani while I had have been working. Last December, I completed my Mtech.

And after long time researching I finally settled for two co-axial helicopters(one IR and other one radio) from the Canning Street Kolkata last saturday as I couldnt find a plane in a budget of 2500INR anywhere, and as expected both the helis dont have gyro and are super unstable. anyways, I brought them coz I want to use their parts for my Plane build.

However, I have a question about the trimming thing-I require to trim on the rotors every time I change the throttle, is this normal or a problem with these helicopters as they dont have a gyro?

Other than RC, I am a avid long distance(min 50km at a stretch) cyclist(only on self customized road bike) and a underwater plant grower in aquariums and seller(when i produce excess), have 11 aquariums and 100+ fishes native + foreign origin. And last but not the least, I love diy over stock things.

This is all from my end and my story till now in shrt, though, Sorry for the looong post, however, I hope a little background helps others knowing a person and their nature/perspective well and hence, forming a lasting bond. :)

here is a pic of one of the helis that work on IR. the spring of the right controller was coming off and hence the condition of remote and its woking till now. and for the heli, man!! cut the extra weights off, trying to balance out the things for a better fly. :)

Please feel free to share your invaluable insights. :)
And thanks for giving me a place in such a great forum to learn and know new things. :)

Interesting read Sanam.
Well, Unless and until the Heli is CCPM, it won't be as agile. Co-axials are not hobby grade stuff. In essence they are just a 'Jugaad' to make the damn thing fly.
Get a CCPM heli like WL V911 to start with if you like goosebumps.
Micro Quads are also a good alternative option in budget for beginners.

BTW, Welcome to RCIndia.

Thanks Bhavesh, I did search for the ones with a single rotor and a tail rotor but the sellers made fun of me and said they then the companies will have to make one special for me. :(

to be honest, I am v less likely to buy a heli or a quad for the coming months as I want to build a aircraft on my own. this forum has great topics and I am presently going through.
Although, it will be very helpful if you or anyone else helps me with a link or article where I can find the ratio of different measurements, like what should br the wing length when the weight is X and all those kind of stuffs relating to aircraft's dimensions.

THanks once again. :)
