Title: Nikhil from Canada
Post by: nikhilpali_88 on November 16, 2009, 04:41:38 PM
Hey everyone, myself Nikhil and I'm into rc, mostly racing. I'm doing Automotive Engg from Univ of Windsor, Windsor,ON, Canada.

I have owned lots of rc since I got into it 4yrs ago. I have raced in Nationals and my racing number is 96x.

Sponsers: JRS Hobbies (main), Protoform, Thunder Tiger, Traxxas Canada (partial)

It started with xmods and got really hooked up, then I bought Traxxas Rustlers (both nitro and electric). Then I upgraded from xmods to HPI Micro RS4 on which I learnt to drift. I got so much into drifting that I bought the Yokomo MR4 drift cars, directly imported from Japan. The best drift cars ever. I bought both nitro and electric version, but soon sold the nitro one and went on to excel in drifting with Yokomo MR4TC SD-CM. I used to drift at night in my univ's parking lot.

Since I live near detriot river and there are lots of rocks, I got Axial Rock crawler (kit version) and used to crawl on weekends with it.

And then I started racing in events.I bought Team associted RC18T factory team edition and then another one with Exotek Carbon Fiber conversion and brushless. I sold the factory team one and right now own the Exotek RC18t and its wicked fast.

I also bought Team Associated TC4 to race in touring class 3yrs ago and recently sold it to buy Xray 009 EU.
(http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg310/nikhilpali_88/IMG_0211.jpg)

I bought Traxxas E-revo with Mamba monster brushless and lipos and raced it in RCPRO Canada Series represting India. I'm the first and only Indian to every take part in it and fortunatley I came 2nd and 3rd in Action Hobbies, Kingsville and Legacy Hobbies, Startroy and claim 2nd Overall in the series.

I also race nitro buggies. Im sponsered my Thunder Tigers and I raced TTR EB4 SX prototype buggy with some of the stuff that a normal person can't lay hands on.
(http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg310/nikhilpali_88/RC%20PRO%20Race/DSC00008.jpg)

I was recently gifted Traxxas Slash by Traxxas Canada for coming second with E-Revo. (Im kinda sponsered by Traxxas too, except I'm only sponsored for discounts on spares and kits and testing)
Since summer is gone, I currently race on-roads. I don't race in touring class now and I love VTA class and race Xray FK05 with Cuda body in this class. I also race in Mini class with Tamiya M03-R chassis with Swift body.

Nice to see a fellow country man reaching such heights. The Indian flag on the windows would really make all the forum member proud! The 2nd pic really well taken, may be not as good as the driving itself  :salute:

When you come back to India, do socialize with local RC aficionados - I think it would be great experience sharing on both of the sides. This is a hobby seldom helped by books. You need real people to guide.

Nice that being in such RC rich place, you spent time posting in the Desi forum! Keep the good work and keep us posted..

@Divyam
When I first started with Xmods, I bought them from a local electric store "The Source", and little did I knew at that time that they are so durable and upgradable. I played with them for about a year and when I was looking for some upgrades for my Xmods on some forums, I came across 2 rustlers for sale. It was such a good deal that I bought it just for the heck of it. It was snowing here, and I loved the nitro rustler go plowing through the snow. This really got me into rc.
Some other rc enthusiast will agree with me, that if you hang around this hobby, your collection will grow up.
This hobby is not that easy too, I have sliced my hands with exacto knifes, burnt myself with soldering gun, frustrated when my wheel came of in the second lap of the race...but if you maintain patience and gun back at it, you will get good at it and your collection will increase gradually. I have over 4000$ into this hobbies, and all of this were earned by me over a span of 4 yrs. So hang in thr.
I was given Phoenix BX II to test by ttr, and its a very good buggy to start with. If you set it up nicely, you have a real contender thr.

@ujjwaana
Yes I'm lucky to be in rc rich place. I was in rc when I was back in India and used to read books from British library and build my own planes n cars out of hard foam and plastic.
But some people take this hobby very seriously here, they have been in this hobby for 30yrs and they hate being taken out by guy on his first day out with monster truck.
I'm planning to come back to India for vacations in Jan for 4 months. I will be bringing my truck and would love to run it with you guys.
I have learnt a lot about how to make a car go faster, how to gain an edge over others and I will be happy to share these tips with other hobby fanatics here. I will be posting some tutorials on how to gain a extra edge.
