:salute: Hi everyone !

I am an aero-modeling newbie from Kolkata.

I work as a Web Marketer for an IT company and have been interested in gadgetry and RC since child-hood days. To my credit thus far,  I have scratch built a Galelio's telescope, a solar cooker, and a motorized tank. I was introduced to planes through the rubber-powered models sold at India Hobby Center - Calcutta.

I have unsuccessfully flown / successfully crashed a 3 Channel RTF Megatech Skyliner. Over the years, I have tried black-powder rockets and IR helicopters... but planes are my favorite... My ideal built would be a 2 Meter RC Glider  (:|~ Currently, I am working on a Warp/Firefly, SlowFly Spad, and a Piper Cub... I am also writing a blog of my experiences.. to read more please visit... http://indiahobby.blogspot.com

I encourage people from Calcutta/Kolkata to post their stories or information about suppliers or places to meet and fly... and I am willing to help local RC enthusiasts in my humble capacity.

Also, Anwar thanks you for your email message...

I just gone through your blog, Found great stuff in it, Really good works man...

Sethji,

Welcome to the forum. You and I have a lot of similarities. Both from Cal, both started with gliders from Hobby Centre, both into black powder (and sugar KNO3) rocketry, both into telescopes! Also just completed a one metre glider and in the process of RC'ing it.

Keep up the good work.

PM me your cell number and we can talk.

Cheers!

Thanks Sriharishine and VC... I appreciate your kind words... thanks for visiting my blog.. I will keep updating it every week...

VC, I read through your posts... you made some  {:)} great contribution {:)} to this forum/community...

Thanks for your kind words, however, compared to some other stalwarts present in this forum, my contribution has been negligible.

I wanted to share my micro flying fleet.
These are all between 30-45 grams in weight and rung on brushed pager motors and all are using the 2.4 Ghz receivers.
Four of these are RTF, but the yellow winged plane has been converted from a free-flying toy to radio control.
These are great for indoors (like a basketball court) or outside with less than 5 km/h wind.

List from the left: Flyzone Albatross, Flyzone Playmate, Parkzone Corsair, Parkzone Mustang, Harbor Freight Lightning (I call it Bijli ;) )

Good to see micros. Sad thing is that you are not in Kolkata at present.
However, what a co-incidence !

Just today, 5 brushed motors with Prop I received, only one has the good thrust and others needs matched Prop/gear. Of course for micros. Despatched with Rohit's Shipment from SAI (rcforall).

Do you make any micro with customs electronics?
What is availability of RC electronics at present to your place ?

I am seeing that micros are be flooded in market as TOY. But if slow flyer and 3/4 channel control, why we call TOY ?
We have to unite and to prove ourself to make indigenous products as well as marketing / Canvasing them. I'm sure we must achieve success if we try unitedly.

What an awesome micro hangar! But, Ritesh bhaiya what about your scratch-builds, have you found time to build any new planes?

I am now living in Washington, DC  and we have a few nice local hobby shops. The prices are relatively higher than what you pay for parts from online stores (Hong-Kong or Ebay)... Brushless motor, ESC, LiPos are reeeaaallllyyyy cheap from China and customs is not a problem...

The micros you see in the picture are not toy level... two are 4Channel and the rest are 3Channel... they can do loops, rolls, and two can fly inverted as well... The yellow winged plane was built with micro pager motor and micro esc/servo from the local hobby shop...

It is my understanding that 3-4 channel planes will not be sold in local markets in India, because the seller does not sufficient space to display the product (plane) as actually flying... secondly there are no return policies in Indian shops, thus customers will not purchase unless they see the product perform! Unlike the Chinese Helicopters that are sold in Fancy Market or Bura Bazzar... the shopkeeper can prove the Heli flies...and people buy.

Rohit, you seem to make better scratch-builts then myself:)

I don't get much time to devote to the hobby, so building planes has been going slow... However, I did built a Piper Cub with foam-board during summer... It didn't fly too well... and I did not re-enforce the wings with carbon-fiber... So, the wings snapped mid-air on its 3rd flight attempt... :(

Anyways, I hope you are having a good time at your Engineering College...

Yes we have started a new Aeromodelling group at our college and am working on a lot of projects.  ;D
