hi,
built a catapult launcher for skywalker x8 using locally available materials.
boom is 8ft x 50mm sq. aluminium, ball bearings and aluminium strips.
used heavy duty catapult rubber. total pull is 16 kgs. now increased to 22kgs.
tested on field and result was fantastic.
plan on refining the design and make it better.
pics below
will upload video in short time
Great. {:)}
Waiting for video 8-)
What is the source of the catapult rubber?
Nice one Sandeep. Did you use surgical rubber?
I'm guessing it's bungee cord?
20mm dia rubber tube used for making catapult. this rubber has fantastic flexibility. costed 120rs for 3ft.
used 2nos but length reduced to maximise pull. trial pull showed 8kg torque. now increased to 11.5kgs as I plan to add 1kg payload.

We need a video Sandeep ji..photo doesn't do justice to this creation
@sbajare,
That ball bearing idea is fantastic!
As usual you come out with something new every few months. Great.
More photos please.
Not able to see:
- carriage restraint mechanism at full cock
- carriage release mechanism
- method of retaining model on the carriage
- what happens when the carriage hits the forward stop
Regards.
hi,
trying to edit video and upload same.
Iyer sir, will post details with pics. right now busy wit trials.
there is a pin locking the carriage. releasing is simply by pressing lever.
the cradle hits the front legs but working on damping the hit by using springs or rubber stopper.
